I watched about half of the video and this is obviously past normal poor housekeeping skills. That being said I have to confess to having pak rat tendencies.
But let me say up front I would never sacrifice my garage to total storage; in the north with cold and snow, a garage is to valuable!
Since I'm aware of my "weakness" in the clutter area I read everything I can find to keep me on the straight and orderly. I was surprised to find an article connecting the pak rat personality with ADHD and OCD. The claim was that 1/3 of OCD patients suffer from compulsive hoarding.
Since I have OCD tendencies as well it was quite a revelation!
I discovered a "Christian" author, Cyndy Salzmann, she is a professional organizer and has a cool blog. We have all heard someone say they need a bigger house, but as she states, we just need less stuff.
It gives new meaning to Rev 3:17, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;........
And yes, as was mentioned, the man of the house could clean, toss, pick up.....before it ever reached this he should have hired a maid, maybe she was just overwhelmed. And it takes money to accumulate all of their "things"; close the credit card accounts.
I know someone with more advanced clutter than I, and their basement is literally filled....to quote her husband , "Shop in the basement"!

Kinda of strange, you would think her illness towards cleaning would apply to both the inside and outside as well.

Because OCD people DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT want other people to know. She buys CLOTHES, and puts them IN the house. This way she can clean up the outside of the house and everything looks fine.

It is interesting that, should one of us brethren, make a comment that the cleaning is clearly her job then we would find ourselves under a dog pile of womanhood...
Yet it is easily stated how these other things are clearly "men things'
I do not believe that a man should assume things to be a "womans job" and never lend a hand and just rail on her when it is not done....
But... I guess I'll finally have to just come out and say it... this appears to clearly be her problem... It is now his problem because he has to live in it... but it certainly seems to be
Now... if ridicule is his way of dealing with her... then he has his own set of problems that he brings to the mix.
But he appears to have tried several times to help the situation but there is no remedy against a flood and there appears to be a constant flood of more stuff into this house and very, very little of it is his.
There are no innocents in this situation... but I don't think that he is main culprit here.
Let the attacks begin... I have to go out of town anyway.

Depends on how expensive the divorce would be. This woman is obviously a nutjob.

There is no way he could go around and clean up all her mess. He would spend his whole day cleaning trying to keep up with all that. He probably did clean up. And the children probably helped keep everything livable before they moved out. I think he is at a loss and the video was a plea for help.
