Nothing I've suggested is nonsense and all I've suggested is well within the means of a physically healthy male. My suggestions are like the salad buffet at Golden Corral. You don't have to eat it.

i get that you are just trying to be helpful--but i'll say it again: 100 million people, kaiser. Why would they not be doing what you have suggested? I have tried several of those things--and they just really do not exist as advertised. I know this is hard to grasp, having grown up in a land of plenty, but this is why i keep shoving Max Keiser at you; because companies don't even need to hire any more; they are busy consuming themselves. All--all, all of those "job opps" are fakey come-ons, training for jobs that don't exist, at least as advertised. This is why you see like 4 million people moving to Montana for 400k jobs in oil--and they are now getting laid off.
your suggestions are more like the freebie table at the soup kitchen, wadr. moldy bread

Same with Nurse Anesthesists. Oil rig work and barge work-- your age won't be a factor in getting hired but at your age you may not want to do work that has the potential to be physically demanding, but then that may be your forte. You mentioned 40's but at least you are not in your 60's!

I take allot of blame for the disaster I've led my family to. Back when i was thriving in business and getting to work from home, making killer bucks, being a stay home dad, I guess I should have been getting some more "just in case" education instead of trying to expand something I had no idea would be stolen from me. Maybe those many 7 to 8 week trips to Mexico with my wife to visit her family were not in order either. Oh I did allot of preaching and mission work, but it looks like i made a huge mistake. But hey nobody forced me to marry some one from another country. Now it's been two years since she has seen her family and being able to afford to send her and the kids for a visit seems like a distant memory or dream. I get to live with that guilt, too.

The schools usually allow you to go home to eat and sleep and such. Once you are on the road, your home scheduling depends the corporation you work for. Some over-the-road corporations honor their commitments to have you home once a week and some don't.
Or you can get the training and look for a local gig for your area.
The teaching suggestion is also very possible and it gives you the chance to earn a retirement. Inner cities and rural areas need teachers and you can always live one place and simply commute to your job in the city if living in the city is not your desire.

Re: More Soviet style unemployment stats
I'm currently working over 50 hrs/week between two part-time jobs right now, on different shifts. One 9am to 5/6pm Tues., Thurs. and Sat., the other midnight to 9am, Mon., Wed. and Fri. I'm praying my day job goes full time so I can quit the night shift job (also, it's in my preferred field - computer repair - while the night shift job was just to pay the bills); but on the plus side, I am finally catching up on my bills, something I've been struggling with since 2010.
I will agree with Kaiser that it's certainly possible, though since I am single, it's less burdensome for me (no one depending on me to be home, I just work whatever hours are convenient). For someone with a family, it would be a much greater burden.

Well Originalist, you gotta shake off the guilt and do something beneficial and I think it starts with gaining fulltime employment. I've mentioned some ideas and I think they are doable, even if it is for the short term.

you would serve yourself better to buy a goat, and some seeds, imo. You recommend chasing a dollar, which is not even money, and about to reach its intrinsic value--zero--like every other fiat ponzi scheme in human history. God will not protect you if you are just stupid, imo.

I really do appreciate the advise and thanks for letting me vent. I try daily to shake all this off and just praise God through it.

sounds groovy--a debt slave, striving for Zero. I'd be much more impressed if you agreed with Keiser.
