Re: Women Preachers

If we look at qualifications then Paul did not meet his on qualifications...He was not the husband of one wife...he did not have children...

I have read some very strong arguments that state that paul was married at one time.

Re: Women Preachers

Weather Paul was ever married or not really may not matter when it comes to the qualifications for a pastor because i dont think that he ever claimed to be a pastor did he?

Re: Women Preachers

I can only think of one place off hand that the New Testament mentions pastors. In fact, as a term for ministers, the word (poimen) appears only once in Ephesians 4:11. At least that is all I can think of at the moment.

Re: Women Preachers

Yes, I do believe he was an Apostle...and I am ok with people that disagree...Do we know each other? I have lots of friends that do not believe in women preachers. In fact I have never called myself a preacher only a missionary. Whatever that may mean. I went to one church and the pastor called me Apostle Sister Alvear....lol...went to another church and the pastor called me Prophetess Sister Alvear...really I am none of these things...Only a missionary. That is what He called me to be...

Re: Women Preachers

I thought that followers were referred to as disciples until they had learned enough and then Jesus sent them out as Apostles---the seventy Apostles. I know that the Bible calls His disciples different names--deacon, minister, etc--were these the less qualified to teach the word of God?

History of the word "Apostle"---In the synagogue, an important official was the sheliach (in Hebrew, seliah in Aramaic, or apostello in Greek - apo, off; stello, send), meaning "to be sent." These sheliach carried the collections taken up in Babylonia and Jewish colonies of the Roman empire to Jerusalem for the support of the Temple. Every Jew was obliged to give every year for the expenses incurred by the Temple and its sacrifices.1 The Temple priests were sent each year apostles from Jerusalem to the different synagogues of the world to bring greetings from their brethren in Judea, and to see that the synagogue worship was rightly observed in these distant lands.2

Meaning of Disciple---In Christianity, the term disciple primarily refers to students of Jesus and is found in the New Testament only in the Gospels and Acts. The New Testament records many followers of Jesus during his ministry, but only some became disciples. Some disciples were given a mission, such as the Little Commission, Luke's commission of the 70, the Great Commission after the resurrection of Jesus, or the conversion of Paul, making them Apostles, charged with proclaiming the Good News (or Gospel) to the world.

The seventy disciples/apostles were sent to spread the word that the kingdom of God was coming. There were females among them.

The word pastor means to lead the flock.
The word deacon means servant
The word elder means shepherd--to lead the flock

Here is something that may surprise you: The New Testament never uses the word "minister" as a title for a preacher. You can prove this to yourself if you will take the time to read every passage that uses the word minister, ministered, or a related word. And yet, it is so common to hear members of the church refer to a preacher as "my minister," "our minister," or "the minister." The word minister is never used as a title for a preacher in the New Testament. That concept comes from the teaching of men, not the teaching of God.

All mankind is to minister to others in teaching, clothing, housing, feeding, healing and protecting each other and being thankful that we have the body, strength and love by which to do so while at the same time knowing that when we are loving others we are also loving Him--and looking into His eyes.

Yeshua Bless You
