Boston and NYC are both expensive to live in... but not any worse than the SoCal area.

Grimaldi's is the bomb!!! I love it. Don't expect anything fancy though....it's an old little crowded Italian joint under the Brooklyn Bridge, but the pizza is unbelievable. Piles of real mozarella mounds, not sprinkled and melted like most places. There are no salads or other options, just that wonderful pizza!
Be prepared to wait though, unless you go at an off-time.

I come from an area 70 miles outside of NYC and I still couldn't move back due to the living expenses.
You'd have to live 2+ hours outside either to even think about affording it...
