I think that in the context of his comments on "geographical foe", he didn't make clear the Russian threat in a geographical sense. Although, Putin has said they will take a harder stance, after Romney's comments, on opposing a US led effort to place a missile defense system in Eastern Europe so as to guard against any nuclear attack from Iran. Putin is insisting they want to have some assurances that the system won't be aimed at their own nuclear arsenal.

And I would think that Putin would take issue with being lumped into the extremist leaders of Syria, Iraq, etc.

So, I do agree with tstew, that we need to be careful on demanding any candidate speaking too much on our foreign affairs in the media and/or publicly.

I have a friend who is from Russia and stays in contact with her family. She said that Putin is doing more than the United States on supporting religious freedom. I read that to be true at Townhall and other places -"Russia is predominantly Orthodox Christian and Putin has encouraged a revival of religious practice since he came to power a decade after the collapse of the officially atheist Soviet Union in 1991."

I understand your view. That is why no one of any honesty nor integrity gets a chance. You have to speak and look political. Funny we crucify the church for playing political games, but it's okay if our political candidates do that.

In the case of someone like Perry or Gingrich, with some gaffes and pointedly answering the questions, it's best to just shut-up and play the game. Very sad for America and very sad that I find Americans supporting the very behaviour that attributes to our demise. Shameful in fact.

I actually agree with you on principle, PO, but usually the system filters out the really exciting candidates early on (or at least it seems that way). When we actually get to voting time, we are left with only strategic moves.

Whether I'm lying to myself or not, the only way I can justify making decisions at the voting booth at all is to think of it as a strategic political move to protect our country and not about selecting the most morally pure or honest candidate.

But, heck no! We can't get that with the media in our face moving our thinking the way they need it to go. And we let them do it! For us to not recognize this, is just harmful to us as a people. That is why we have become irrelevant to Washington. They see that we don't look much further than the hair and style presented. To heck with the substance. Good grief!

I expect that Romney will win and that is fine with me. I don't really care who wins. As Gingrich said,"Romney may turn out to be good president", and he might. One thing I won't do is support any candidate, no matter how they "might" turn out later, on a flip-flopping, etch-a-sketch record.

AND I especially will not support a party that would not follow the rules during the primary and at Convention.

At least the Democrats had the courtesy to cheat by asking for a vote three times. The Republicans just steamrolled the "Ayes" have it. LOL! I definitely need a break.
