Snake handlers have more scriptural basis to handle snakes than clothesline preachers have for a subjective dress code.

You may want to look a page or two back at my post. I've exposed the fact that many selectively choose which portions of the passage is to be taken literally and which portions are metaphors. I think you are seeing the arguments to try to trivialize snake handlers crystalize. It's nice to see someone else questioning the illogical reasoning.

Snake handlers have red letters which inidcates Jesus said those words. How is that subjective. Where is the scripture that says girls have to wear skirts to look like a lady?
Why cannot the enitre passage in question in Mark 16 be taken literally? If one part of Mark 16 is accepted as literal, than one has to accept the whole scripture as literal.

If you mean tempting God to sin than please show what sin people are trying to get God to commit.
If you are saying tempting means to test God. The entire Bible is full of examples of where God encouraged people to test Him.
The entire concept of faith boils down to testing God. TIthes and offerings come with a request by God to test him.
Either way the argument that trivializes snake handlers falls short.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
They call his name in vain when they ask protection while perpetrating the evil they claim to seek protection from.

Uh, I don't recall saying there was such a scripture.
The entire passage is quite possibly literal. I remember Paul shaking a snake in the fire.
