What a joke.
Did you try to disciple any of them?

Re: From Tim Downs..

I'm sure steve epley cares about winning souls. In that we should care about tim downs' work, EVEN if we disagree with method.

By the way, his methods do work. I've tried them myself

Re: From Tim Downs..

I have spoken to the man. I also am friends with a man who assistant pastored a church where Downs was brought in.

He pitched a fit like a baby when they didn't reserve the expensive hotel in town. He gave them a "rider" much like celebs and bands do and said if the conditions weren't met he would leave. He dressed down their musicians because they didn't play all the songs he liked. He isn't the nicest or godliest towards his wife according to numerous peopal I have heard that have had them come do his "crusades".

Results or not, the man needs to be put in his place and learn some humility.

A man can't have friends unless he is friendly. One whom you describe couldn't minister to the poor, downtrodden folks of atlanta that would rather shoot you than look at you...

His attitude is strong and I agree, but this wife treatment business is way off.. and he most likely told those musicians something they didn't like, which he has a knack for doing.. that doesn't make his wrong or have a bad spirit.

He admits to making mistakes.. as I'm sure he has done many times because so many oppose his methods.

Re: From Tim Downs..

Perhaps they oppose his methods b/c the very common report is that he creates swelling, not growth. He goes to churches hungry for growth that are typically on the small side, floods them with more souls than they can possibly handle or adequately disciple, then he moves on and the church is left to deal with the problems that come behind.

Then he can brag about the short term results and get more bookings.

If Bro Downs sent information for what he expected before coming why did they bring him in if they didn't want to do what he asked?

This story smells of a little foul oder of bitterness.

Also....I was with his family for 3 days, I watched how he treated her, like a queen, and she is just as soul minded and passionate as he is.

He is a strong leader, and if you think getting a bunch of dead head saints off the pews and into the streets is a job for the weak, well...maybe thats why your sitting on forums tearing down those who do.

I just want to publicly state that I am willing to visit a church if they will give me an ipod. As long as it is not the nano. I want the itouch. The one with only 8gb's is fine although 16gb or 32b would be even better.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

He is the real deal if you know his personal story. He contacted the Atlanta police and asked what the hardest crime ridden ghetto area was, and then he planted his church right in the middle of a super high crime area. As growing churches move out to the suburbs to "get the money folks" there is a HUGE need for churches that are willing to plant in the inner city. Many of the folks he reaches need bus/van ministry to reach the church or walk there from their home.

They guy has rolled the dice and is going where NO sane white church planter would ever go. Gotta give him credit.

Re: From Tim Downs..

CC1, you have to either be homeless or a 99%er in order to get an ipod. That's the deal.
