Maybe. That's about as close as we get. But without it ever taking place elsewhere, I would doubt it. Any scriptural examples of prayers offered are always well thought-out petitions or proclamations with absolutely ZERO repetitious phrases. Seriously....I've NEVER been in a "corporate" prayer meeting in my life that wasn't anything more than a loud blending of repetitious Christian cliches.

I pray aloud at church and at home. But, normally, the church prayers are led by one another in order, and most do get a turn in prayer. God has granted that our prayers have been in order.
Loud praying is communing with God, but most just say Hallelujah and Praise the Lord repeatedly instead of sincere praying. And, let me claify as well that sincere prayer can be loud and soft.

Re: I Was Wrong!
I am all for corporate prayer, just not convinced that means everyone speaking out loud at the same time - especially at high decibel levels.
Furthermore, I am speaking of how my preference has changed, not necessarily as a condemnation toward those who differ. The intent is to show tolerance to different traditions and preferences.

I liked when we had our Ladies meetings, we would take turns praying and it didn't get loud. Nor were there any cliches used. Sometimes a lot of people praying out loud is noisy but not necessarily repetitious.

Sometimes I will say I love you Jesus, repeatedly. I guess that's more worship than prayer. Some people pray and worship at the same time, I think.

I actually do miss that. What I mean by this is that my church in Jacksonville, NC had a consistently fiery prayer service in the prayer room before every service, with very few exceptions.
In fact, when I go to the prayer room at my church, I often listen to the prayers of the saints, especially the older saints.
The ones who pray fervently are inspiring to me.
It's not something that I'd want to our church to ever be without.
Sure, God hears the silent prayers too.
However, I believe there is great value in corporate prayer-- whether in the prayer room or in the sanctuary.

It's all in perception, I think.
