Oh ya. A few in fact, which is worse because now they are in competition.

Yes, except my memory is a man. He would arbitrarily let out a war-hoop that was completely disruptive. Crazy thing, though, he was a hero for it and everyone would get excited when he did. Ridiculous.

I wonder how many of us Pentecostals speak in tongues as the brain gives the utterance instead of the spirit giving the utterance?

Great analysis!! This is why I stopped "speaking in tongues" many years ago. I finally realized I had never really done it. Now, I feel the power of the Holy Spirit working in my life everyday! When I finally disconnected the idea of "Holy Spirit=Tongues", I truly discovered and was filled with the Holy Spirit, rather than settling for a memorized recital of nothing.
Your last question? You wouldn't wanna hear my opinion of the percentage.

i feel your pain.
To find this you'll probably have to look outside the UPCI...there are some in the club...but they are few and far between.

So, I guess TBN is as bad as AM and the UPC?
Public displays of speaking with tongues with no interpretation just bother me.
Actually, I speak with tongues just about every day. I believe there is an experience we call the (HGB) Holy Ghost Baptism available for us as children of God and I believe that after we receive that HGB we begin to pray/speak with tongues. But, public displays of tongues just seem to bother me unless there is an interpretation.

Try Chuck Smith. His entire Genesis - Revelation series over a 7 year period is online at the main Calvary Chapel site... its good stuff.

Clearly, it also bothered Paul. But most all pentecostal preachers, or people for that matter, don't seem to mind.

I would say the precentage is rather high. I think that saying HG=tongues is accurate. I think the HG equals many things inculding tongues, but not exclusivley tongues. I think an intial evidence of the HG is tongues, but not always in all cases. As far as the public display of tongues without interpretation I don't mind it to a point because I believe in most cases it is a person that has gotten a bit too emotional and kind of can't regulate the spirit moving. If everyone that was in the spirit would jsut let go then we would all go crazy because it is impossible for the human body to contain the actual spirit of God without exploding. Unfortunately I fear that most of the pentecostal worship is more show than flow (in the spirit). What do I know though because I didn't speak in tongues yesterday?
