I remember when it was a vibrant, fun-filled forum. I remember passionate arguments and crazy amounts of traffic. There was a time that, if you missed a day, you would find threads you had been following three or four pages back because so many new topics had been posted.

So....what happened?

Now, I can be gone a week, come back, and find that the same old topics are still on the front page.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I will tell you why it's just not as interesting to me as it used to be. It has nothing to do with ownership or admins. The ownership and admins here are great folks.

Here's a few reasons why AFF is just not as interesting.

1. Start a new thread about a serious PENTECOSTAL topic, and within two or three posts you have a few confirmed atheists, universalists or confirmed homosexual agendists posting ignorant, profane crud. These dolts ruin any potentially good discussion.

2. The forum has become too political. I LOVE politics, but that's pretty much all AFF is any longer. Coadie and Esther pretty much think Obama is the antichrist, and on any given day have about ten threads going to prove it. It gets old. Most of it is just recycled hate speech they've received from some anonymous emailer.

3. There is no common bond here. AFF is not an AFF. We are not true to our identity. Many, many, people here are ADMITTED backsliders, unbelievers or never have had any real contact with Pentecost. I'm not talking about differences in standards. I'm saying these folks don't know squat about Pentecost.

There you have it.

Now, FIX IT people!

I agree!!!! The perfidity with which many approach sacred things is appalling to those who bear the truth in love and righteousness!

Perhaps because the subjects are still of interest.

1. Start a new thread about a serious PENTECOSTAL topic, and within two or three posts you have a few confirmed atheists, universalists or confirmed homosexual agendists posting ignorant, profane crud. These dolts ruin any potentially good discussion.

Provide a few examples please. It could be that there are a few confirmed atheists, universalists or confirmed homosexual agendists posting ignorant profane crud. Or it could be that this is the definition of someone posting with an opposing opinion.

2. The forum has become too political. I LOVE politics, but that's pretty much all AFF is any longer. It could be that the political postings have remained relatively constant while religious postings have dwindled thus giving the appearance of more political postings. But... if someone posts an opposing religious opinion they can quickly be labeled as atheists, universalists or confirmed homosexual agendists and their thoughts are sometimes referred to as ignorant profane crud. One cannot expect people to continue to post when this is the result of expressing ones opinion. The phrase "Where are those people we used to kick in the teeth" is a self answering question.

There is often no common bond among people who refuse to bond with anyone but those who pass a rigid litmus test of exacting beliefs. In an atmosphere of the "thems" and the "Us's" no one should be surprised that there isn't a bond felt between the sides.

There goes those 40,000+ posts. Was DA a HG with evidence of tongues person? What about our Apostolic PCI brethren?

If you don't believe in God, aren't sure there is a God, think tongues doesn't belong in the church, laugh and childishly criticize posters without sincere dialogue, then please do the forum a favor.

However, the other areas of diversity make for good discussion.

I'm pretty sure Daniel believes the baptism of the Holy Ghost is evidenced by tongues. PCI MEN BELIEVE THE SAME THING.

I'm in agreement here.

I know that I can rub people the wrong way sometimes by some of the things I say that either forces people to think or causes a knee-jerk response. I hope I'm not on anyone's ignore list, but I'm sure I am and I'm okay with that.

I don't understand why some post here at all. One in particular that has become increasingly disrespectful of the pentecostal faith was the most recent (and only user) to be put on my ignore list. Why come here if your only purpose is to mock and ridicule - especially when you NEVER post scripture to support your view and never get into any intelligent discussion with Berean-style scholarship?

I've taken some beatings for my stances on a few things from some, but at least we were engaging each other and talking from scripture. Everyone has a choice whether or not to participate in a discussion, but if you're going to participate you should behave like an intelligent adult. Build support for your view with scriptural context - not with a strawman, not with circular reasoning, and not with ad hominem attacks.

I will refer to D4T's post, though, and state that I'm somewhat in agreement there as well. I don't consider myself a lib, as much as I refer to myself as a "recovering ultra-con"... trying to avoid the pendulum effect. The problem that I'll echo from D4T is when people with a "more liberal" stance on standards (as defined by codified conduct, dress, etc.) are broadbrushed as backslidden, apostate, etc. by the right and extreme right, that tends to stifle a lot of the meatier conversations. I'm all for a good biblical, adult conversation with a conservative and can respect his or her views. The problem is that often little respect is shown in either direction. So... where did all those people go that we kicked in the teeth? Where do you think?

Re: What Happened to AFF?

Some just got tired, those without split personality's of course.........

Some left quietly, some with a lot of noise.

And I think a few are probably not coming back.

We have missed you and PP.
