Re: Would you put up a holiness chart on your webs

To all:

I checked out the website, there was no place for "contact us" so I signed the guest book and left this message.

We have checked our your site and some liked your holiness page and some didn't, you can see what was discussed at WWW.apostolicfriendsforum.com

To Bro Bennett; This was written for you.

Hello Brother Bennett, I hope all is well at the Boston assembly, sorry for some of the rude comments made on this discussion thread. I praise GOD for an assembly in Boston that is still preaching the Acts 2:38 salvation message, along with One-GOD and holiness! May the LORD continue to bless you all, and hopefully the good posts on this discussion thread will just be something for you to consider, should you so desire to consider this matter.

Lord Bless in Jesus name

The chart is cultic. My opinion.

Blume was going to put up his charts, but he only completed part of his series: holiness, hair, and hem lines

maybe he will soon fulfill the task so we can take a look..

Contact info is on the home page, top right hand corner. It has a telephone number and an email us link.

I have been to this assembly a fair amount of times, I was never a member, but when I lived in Boston, if I was going to attend Bible study in the city it was that assembly, and the pastor of that assembly welcomed me there, and I went to youth events there with my sister and whatnot, when I was in the MA/RI UPC district. Here's the scoop:

This is an assembly that is not particularly conservative. Most wear wedding rings, they allow short-sleeves, and they would not be considered "cultish" or anything like that. It is predominately African-American and Jamaican, and it seems that there is a headcovering custom for 1/2 of the sisters in that assembly. They would be considered VERY much into the UPC/classical Pentecost. They're generally friendly people, and the pastor there has a lot of other ministers helping him, so it's not run by some dictatorial-authoritarian-pastor. Could I make my spiritual home there? Probably not... There is a strong racial barrier that I have always felt difficult to break, but one of the assistant ministers attends there with his family and they are Caucasian. Overall it's just a middle-of-the-road UPC assembly, and in their zeal for modesty and holiness probably thought, "Let's put this chart up on our website to show people what holiness-clothing looks like! After all, how can they know unless we show them?" They're not out to make you all feel bad about yourself or to keep you out of the Boston assembly if you don't dress this way. Would my assembly have it on our website? No... but honestly, the Boston assembly probably made this "faux pas" inadvertently.

My advice: Someone get up the gaul to e-mail the link to this conversation to the church website or to the Pastor...

If that happens; then my message to Bro. Bennett is:

WOW!

1) I saved a copy of my initial post on this thread in an attempt to send it to the Pastor, but the only place to submit this was their public "Guestbook" and I felt it unwise and could be discouraging to some if I had posted my message there.

2) What's the deal with this racial barrier you discussed? Why would it be a barrier to anyone?

Hahaha . How random will this be to whoever reads it.... It is presented as if we are the high council, and we have not yet determined a course of action since we have not yet reached a consenus. I WOULD like to apologize to them for this... . Good grief.
