Re: Do Your Kids Dress Like Bankers?
What are those suit jackets that some of the brethren wear, where they go down to the knees? I consider those effeminate, especially when they are pink or something crazy like that, and then the brother has a pink hat on and a chain or some other accessorie... he looks like some pimp or something like that! If I were preaching and a brother came in dressed foolishly like that, I'd bust out laughing at him!

Were there empty seats being "saved" for friends?
That's a pet peeve of mine.

They are "zoot suits" and our son is a pastor who wears them. Some black brothers gave him several and he wears them proudly.

Then this past December, two girlfriends from school came with us. I got a hotel room downtown. The girls from school got dressed in their nicest clothes and everyone fixed hair better than normal. I thought they all looked nice.
I stood back and watched as those girls became uncomfortable as they watched the fashion show displayed before them. They felt out of place in their more casual clothing (although they did wear nice skirts and tops). They were astonished at elaborate hair styles... clothes that were outrageous even on the guys...they kept making comments about their clothes not being nice enough. It was one of the first times I saw through the eyes of a visitor.... and I was ashamed at what we call religion.
There is nothing worse than putting someone into a situation where they stick out like sore thumbs... We ended up leaving early when after searching for seats and unable to find one... and so tired of standing.
Personally I am so over all the dress clothes stuff...

So, you are saying that it was crowded? Packed out?

And yet the judging still goes both ways. Lord help us.

I haven't been to a UPC service lately.
Are they now wearing what used to be called Zoot Suits?

Re: Do Your Kids Dress Like Bankers?
As youth pastor I allow my kids to dress as they would normally.

Silliness!
I think they'd have better attendance if they advertised convention as dress casual.
Dumb thing is, we expect them to dress that way at summer camp as well.
It's 95-100 degrees in the summer, and we still expect our kids to wear suits, ties and dress shoes.
I don't get it.

Our summer camp for kids dresses causual.
