I think this is more in line with AM and former President Clinton's relationship.
So it's ok to be friends with an aldulterer??

Sounds like more then just marriage to me.
TS, you're certainly welcome to your interpretation of scripture.

While your busy worrying about getting to close to sinners, other people like Anthony Mangun will be out trying to pull sinners from the burning.

TS, do you not have different types of friends? You can BE a friend TO someone without being in a close, intimate relationship with them, and especially without being in agreement with them.

I believe in unconditional love and friendship, but there are times when we must set boundaries between ourselves and those who would poison us, or poison others in our lives. (Such as our children)

So I will remain "friends" (as in friendLY) to just about anyone, but there are some I cannot remain in close fellowship with. My boundaries, though, between a sinner and myself will be for my sake, and should be nearly imperceptible to THEM.

I have a relative who smokes weed on a regular basis. I love her dearly. I am her "friend." But will I stay in her home or have my children around her while she gets high? No! Definitely not. That doesn't mean I'm not going to hug her when I see her, talk to her on the phone, and listen when she wants to talk to me about serious issues in her life!

You mention something about verse 14 concerns marriage, how does the reconcile with the rest of the verses.

Re: Don't you miss the days of Pres. BC?

TS, look at this:

"Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Heb 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Heb 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Heb 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;"

Explain to me how Jesus was both a friend to sinners AND "separate from sinners."

Let's face it, from where I stand it looks like you can't be Christian anymore unless you're Republican. If you're not Republican, don't even consider Christ, you will not be welcomed, your faith will be questioned, and you will be slandered.

Huh? What does being Republican have to do with anything?

IMO, the words used in those scriptures depict a yoking or a connection that is much more intimate or communal than a friendship.

Words like "yoke", "communion", "concord", and 'believeth with" is describing a more indepth, intimate spiritual type of relationship than a friendship. That part is clear when just reading the scripture or looking at word studies and commentaries.

Miss Brattfield is exactly right. She's making the point that there is a big difference in "believing with an infidel" and simply making yourself available through friendship to a sinner.
