Well, someone lied! It was awful - no flavor and very pink and gooey. At least the other stuff was good - roasted parmesan potatoes and broccoli. And I made an Apple Crunch dessert, so I kind of redeemed myself. I just hate it when you spend all that time and then it's YUCKY! Glad I didn't spend a lot of money too.

Anyone else want to share a failure story and make me feel better?
LOL! Sherri, there have been more times than I care to recount of sitting down at the table, taking one bite, and walking to the garbage then to the phone to order pizza!

You cant be a good cook unless you learn what NOT to do! That is my moto!

You really cant cook Marsalla without Marsala. you can use a Medera, a port, or a sherry and get a good flavor (in fact i did it this week with a medera and it was great)

I dont recomend using cooking wine but really it is better than nothing at all I suppose.

Re: My Dinner Failed!!!

When Walt was in the rehab center recovering after his aneurism, my boys called one day to ask if they could put together a box pizza mix they found in the cupboard. I told them yes. Keith called me later. He was LIVID! He was furious because "Justin took a perfectly good pizza and ruined it by putting chocolate bars on it before he baked it"

LOL

Re: My Dinner Failed!!!

My daughter (11 years old) messed up a recipe this past Thanksgiving.

We were making pumpkin rolls.

As most of you know there are 2 recipes to a pumpkin roll... The pumpkin bread part and then another recipe for the cream cheese filling to put on it before you roll it up like a jelly roll.

Well... She just put it all in there (including a block and a half of cream cheese) and cooked it up.

Let me say it like this.... she got the recipe wrong but there wasn't anything wrong with what resulted.

MAN... that was one moist and tasty cookie sheet sized piece of flat pumpkin bread I have ever tasted. LOL

RevRandys recipe there looks very good!

just remember, dont try that dried bean thing in a chili! use canned beans.

cooking dried beans requries more water than your chili will have.

by the way, I made the same mistake you did years ago so I know exactly what you went thru with that!

Re: My Dinner Failed!!!

Buy some Kosher wine and people will think you are buying it for communion or passover,it proably would work for cooking as nobody drinks it to get stoned.

LOL! thats too funny! One must be FEARLESS in the kitchen to be really good and being fearless must sometimes mean failure!

The only person on my AFF bad cook list is St. Mark because he refuses to cook anything!
