Maybe you could think of some better, but I was trying to think of some ridiculous things that he could have done. I was not thinking directly of his age when I said those things. I do see how it could come across that way and maybe subconsciously in thinking of extreme occurences his age did play a part. If I offended any older people I do apologize.

I am not, however, of the opinion that his age is not and should not be an issue. I think that it is unrealistic and irresponsible to not consider his age and I made that point when discussing the slection and exp[erience of his VP nominee. I certainly do believe that if Obama's relative youth can be discussed as an issue, McCain's relative age can be discussed as an issue. In that way I do believe that it is a bit different than racial remarks that I do not believe can be presented as legitimate issues.

Once again, though, my initial point was simply about how subjective different outlets and their dedicated viewership can be. I am more surprised at the number of Fox News viewers who actually said that Obama won the debate than the ones who said that McCain had won the debate. Without watching any of the debate and without watching any of the Hannity and Colmes show, I could have told you who the respective hosts had said was the clear winner...and that's a little frustrating to me.
I think most would agree that there is nothing that Obama could have said or done that would have caused MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, PBS, or NBC viewers to declare him anything other than the winner. Fox is more fair and balanced in my opinion than any other network. I am sure you would disagree and I respect your opinion.

Maybe if McCain had soiled himself or fallen asleep...anything short of that, no way.

Soiling himself and falling asleep seems to be pointing to JM's age....In my opinion, that's not the way to address the issue of his age.

Those whose views side with the majority of the television media outlets would think that Fox is the least fair and balanced...and the dance continues.

I was not trying to address the issue of McCain's age in my original post. There have been other posts where I have addressed the realities of the issue of McCain's age and the unprecedented importance of the qualifications of his running mate as a result. And with all due respect it is incredible to me that you would be so upset at something that seems to be "pointing to McCain's age" and fine with some of the personal things said about Obama, including jokes about him dying a violent death.

I am not upset at all....I was merely pointing out that your comment about McCain didn't seem appropriate for an Apostolic forum. It seemed to be ageism. Since you said it wasn't, I'll accept that.

Where did I ever say I was fine with personal things said about Obama, including jokes about him dying a violent death? I've NEVER said or thought that at all!!...Those kind of remarks are worse than inappropriate. They are horrible.

I don't read every thread and I don't have time to comment on everything that I think is inappropriate or worse..i.e. horrible.

Sorry if you are upset. I am definitely not upset.

JE, you've got to get to know me...not much ever gets me upset. Certainly not anything you've said to me.
I do wish that I had chosen other illustrations in my first post because I think that what I chose basically eclipsed the whole point I was trying to make.
