Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?

I've heard good and bad things about boot camps. I don't stand solidly for or against them. I'd say that if a parent feels one might be necessary, they better look into it thoroughly.

But I lean toward parenting. I feel that discipline is best delivered by the parent. Instead of parents sending their kids to a place to be disciplined...perhaps parents should invest in a "parenting boot camp" and take dominion over their child.

Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?

Yes I believe in corporal punishment for children, up to a certain age. After that, determining on the severity of the issue, talks or physical contact may be necessary. I wouldn't rule out some sort of boot camp, but it would be after I took my child to the altar and to the head doctor. I may even try to just leave him/her over the weekend in the local jail before sending them away.

I know a young man who went from teaching hiome bible studies one day to being in county jail the next day.

Raised UPC, a pretty kid.

He "spanked" his 2 year old cuz she wouldn't stay in bed.

Hit her to hard, broke a bone in her thigh.

The court made of "an example" of him as the judge read his sentence.

He has to serve over 8 years of an 11 year sentence.

Moral of the story, which is true, do not discipline your kids when you are angry.

I think time outs are a blessing for the child and the parent. Wish my mom had thought of those..lol
I hated those little keen switches that stung your legs. She and my grandmother both used them.

Yes. I heard the line growing up, "If you wanna cry, I'll give you something to cry about."

Wooden spoons were not my first choice for spanking instruments. I also would use my plastic comb. It usually only took one swat, but there were times when the message needed to be a little more serious.

Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?

I don't think most people, realize how hard they hit a child when they are spanking them. Never, ever hold a child by one arm and spank their bottom. You can dislocate a shoulder or worse.

I agree. It makes much more sense to tie them down and then start whipping them!

No, I don't believe in corporal punishment. You can teach a child to behave without hitting them.
