Actually you just gave me an idea! Just lend me some of your Christmas notes, and next time she calls I'll tell her that I've been wondering if she celebrates the pagan holiday of Christmas.

Re: Spiritual Stalkers
Call your phone company and see if they will block her calls.

Re: Spiritual Stalkers
This thread has been an entertaining read! LOVE the responses...Mich, you should have no trouble getting rid of this lady. =)
My husband got a call from our former pastor, he heard we were in town. My husband's reply was that yes we are in town...end of conversation! LOL

About a month ago I received a call from a lady, who said that she missed me at church "last Sunday" and then proceeded to ask me how my children were.
I nicely told her that I didn't have any children, and that I hadn't been to church in a year. She asked a few questions, figured out who I was (we'd never said more than a few polite words of greeting to each other), and then proceeded to ask me all manner of questions about my spirituality and relationship with God.
I wanted to be polite, so I answered that no I didn't go to church, and simply murmured "um-hmmm" to her passionate discourse on the importance of church attendance and the dangers that were awaiting me in the end days.
Since then she has called at least 4 times. Last night she called again. When she started again about the importance of going to church, I quickly told her that I had in fact just visited a new church. However, when I answered her query with the information that it was a non-denominational church, she launched into the importance of attending an apostolic church, as it is the only true church, and how basically I'll miss the rapture and suffer horribly in the end times if I don't attend an apostolic church.
Again I listened politely, stopping her only when she asked if she could share some scriptures with me as my time could be up at any moment. (To which I replied that it was not really a good time).
My Question? How do I politely and tactfully stop this? I know that this is a product of her sincere and heartfelt beliefs. But if I simply tell her that I am fully aware of the scriptures she wants to share, and state that I feel differently on them, that will only encourage debate, or cause me to disparage her beliefs, something I do not want to do.
Any Suggestions?

Re: Spiritual Stalkers
seriously
We are getting our laugh on about this...but there are people like this. I like that term, Spiritual Stalkers!
I think they mean well but they just don't trust God to lead a person in the way that they should go. So they resort to stalking, annoying, pestering, harassing...
I had this happen to me recently. The problem was that this lady was older and sickly. So at first it made it difficult to be direct with her. She would apologize all the time after the fact but continue.
So one nite after church I gave her a ride home and had a serious heart to heart with her. I explained to her I do appreciate her concern and all. But that she had to trust in God and her prayers and know God is in control.
She started backing off after that. But I eventually had my phone number changed (not for this reason).
And now the calls have stopped.
I see her at church now and we speak and embrace and that's it. No calls, no stalking, no invasive questionning....
Some people need to be led of the Holy Ghost....

Re: Spiritual Stalkers
We had some JWs who would come here every Sat faithfully. Well my kids didnt know any better so they would take their book and say yes we will look at it and just throw it in the trash... well that to them is the same as saying I am interested! Oh Lord... they came and brought one of their elders one Sat... he came to the door stating that he had been informed that there were children here who were interested in attending their assembly and they wanted to speak with us also!!!! ROFL!!! My kids all spoke up real fast and told them nope that they were just trying to be polite and my husband proceeded to give them a little bible study and they left and we can watch them be out here every Sat now and they purposely pass our house every time! Praise the Lord!!!!

1... Change your phone number?
or..
2... Leave a weird answering machine message like:
"You've reached Billy Bob's Temple of Doom. We are unavailable at the moment. We're currently in the basement sacrificing chickens. Please call back at a more convenient time."
