I even know one group of stone masons who called immigration on themselves (somebody's wedding back in Mexico). Within two weeks they were all back in TX and back on the job. I still get a chuckle thinking about that.
LOL Free flight, baby! I should do that here in Guate, except they'd probably shoot me instead
So attack the government that allows them to stay here - don't attack them. They're not coming to rob and steal from you, they're coming to feed their family and there are no jobs where they come from.
Some of you (don't know about you specifically) view every "foreigner" so suspiciously that you don't even bother to try to witness to them - they're just this "other" group that isn't to be touched. It's like they aren't human.
There are a thousand ways the US government could make illegals leave if they wanted - they just don't want them to.
Go enjoy your chicken dumplings and turnip greens now - I'm sure you're proud of yourself...you made fun of a Mexican today.
Give me a break. I've not made fun of a single Mexican. I have many very close friends who are Mexicans, some are here illegally. We have several in our church who can barely speak English and we joke about it with each other all the time. One man in particular thinks it's funny to come chatter Spanish at me because he knows I don't understand him. I just make a face at him. It's all in fun. But all of their children are learning English, because that's important in this country.
If I lived in the worst parts of Mexico, I'd probably find a way to get here, too! I don't blame them at all, they're just trying to have a life.
But, illegal immigration is still a problem that our government needs to address in some way. And believing that doesn't make you a racist.
(for the record, I took the original post to be about two Mexicans, one legal - the other illegal)
As for this part:
Quote:

Not true at all. Our church has a Spanish outreach, and we definitely don't ask to see green cards!
I don't mind the undocumented Mexicans so much. What burns my hide is those undocumented Canadians, sneeking down here and soaking up our sunshine like it was theirs...
Yep. Truth is they are a part of the labor pool and as such they are a resource.
If they weren't doing those jobs, then those jobs quite possibly wouldn't get done. Would love to here Bob Politico explain to Frank Suburbia why his half gallon of orange juice now costs $8.00 and that quote for the stone walkway just went up by $6000.00.
Somethings you probably just want to leave alone. When I worked construction in Texas in the late 70's early 50's everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE turned a blind eye to it.

ROFL! That's Hilarious!
The whole system is too complex to tell exactly what would happen if we removed all the illegals. Do I think it would pose any long term problems to the economy? No. But I'm not convinced it would really solve any problems either. And we would have a big mess to go through for about a year. Would it help some American citizens out. Sure. Would it hurt other American citizens? Yep.
That is dead on. The topic makes for swell political speeches, but the truth is making all the undocumented workers just go away would be an economic catastrophe.
I think also throwing thousands maybe millions of future votes away.

The most deadly sins do not leap upon us, they creep up on us.
We can't talk about Obama without being racist, we can't talk about immigration without being racist.... pretty soon there won't be anything left to talk about.
Then you should reread the original post and understand nuance.
I honestly read it as being a 'legal' Mexican, and a 'non-legal' Mexican. I can see how it would rub the wrong way if read as a white guy and a Mexican.
Just another demonstration of how we all read things from our own perspective, I guess.
Then you should reread the original post and understand nuance.
I came to the same conclusion you did about it. Racism is an ugly word, and way too easily tossed about and to inflammatory, I do not believe that the original poster's intent was anywhere near a racial statement.
I am thinking he pasted one of them things you get in email that most of us delete.
