Why do we need proof? Who are we proving to?
If we have the fruits of the Spirit in our lives, isn't that proof?

1) The Spirit of God indwells a person BEFORE they believe, else they would not call upon the Lord Jesus Christ.
Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
Joh 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

2) Evidence of the Spirit of God in a person's life, you ask?
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.

Sorry. But Paul is clear that we. are " baptized by one Spirit into one body". That's Bible. ( I Corinthians 12:13)
Again, where is this " damage" to the " three step" salvation doctrine, as you call it?

The Jews were convicted of killing their Messiah. When they asked "What shall we do?" It was not a question about salvation. They were asking what can they do to be cleared of this charge. Peter told them to save themselves from "this untoward generation," the generation that would receive judgment for rejecting Christ.

Even if that was the context of their question, the answer Peter gave covers the sin of killing their Messiah and every other sin they had committed. Peter's answer was indeed about salvation. Else, Peter never told them how to be saved.

Nothing Epley likes better than gloating over people going to Hell.
Of course, in this case, he's wrong. Odd that he de-emphasizes belief as efficacious and then turns right around and states that trinnies are lost because of what they believe.
