It's also my understanding that the term "bene-ha-elohim" was used to denote the "shining ones" (demi-gods) of the ancient tale of Gilgamesh. If memory serves me correctly, in the Babylonian story, their progeny (the giants) helped to protect the "ark" of their mythology.

The story in Genesis seems to take the ancient Babylonian story and flip it upside down. It would imply that the "bene-ha-elohim" are fallen angels, not benevolent demi-gods. It would also imply that these "giants" were not protectors, but rather tyrants. And instead of these giants protecting the ark during the deluge... they are drowned.

Remember, the term "bene-ha-elohim" wasn't a strictly Hebrew term. It was used throughout the ancient Middle East in various linguistic manners, but always to denote "demi-gods".

Essentially if the Bene-ha-Elohim are fallen angels.... what we're seeing is a Hellish invasion of planet earth. These things wanted to bring Hell on earth through their progeny, the Nephilim. This is a blasphemous mockery of God's plan to bring salvation to earth through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Angels are capable of many things that we do not know. Remember, in a single night, a single angel slaughtered a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp.

That's only one Holy Angel.

Imagine what just small contingency of angels could do if they rebelled and chose to wreak havoc on planet earth.

No wonder they were bound in Tartaroo with chains of darkness, to wait confined until judgment. And seeing that their liberty was denied, no wonder we've not seen such an act since.

I don't see any correlation with UFOs.

However, there might be some correlation with the sons of God and many mysteries from ancient cultures. But, that's as far as I can go with it.

the text will show, @ "daughters of men," in the lexicon, what i am talking about; or my old post on it, as well. The ha Adam there. But i will grant that we are dealing with mythology (that may have been put onto paper incorrectly?); although i suspect that this is not the myth you mean to imply.

i've seen enough indications--written and depicted--that Noah's world would be practically incomprehensible to us. There are many clues that the gene pool had been vastly tinkered with; and i wonder in quiet moments if this may not be what is meant by "as it was in the days of Noah."

i read a fairly compelling work on the Egyptian steles--which many authorities take to be "stylized," meaning "sensationalized." (depictions of Pharoahs 18 feet tall, dinosaurs being ridden or "handled," etc)--which put forth a good argument that these guys were carving in stone, monuments that would be seen by visitors as well as the populace, and they would not be sensationalizing them, as they (the Pharoahs who commissioned the steles) would be ridiculed.

The point being that those bird-headed men that we take to be carved gods, or men wearing masks, might not be.

don't know about UFOs, but i guess a lot of freaky, freaky stuff was going on in the sky--with the planets--at the time. Reflected in the official Egyptian headwear of the time. The "bowling pin" hat, and the one we associate with...Isis, or Osiris, i think, the golden orb with horns on either side, were possibly representations of things going on in the sky then.

It's sad to hear some people speak. I say this about those who call themselves apostolics,
or pentecostals...or in the fringes thereof. I have heard it said that some praise God in the
congregation, but forget God in the workplace. Same things happens when many teach or
testify. They tend to mix truth and mythology. I guess they have watched the "preaching" on
the Public Broadcasting System for too long. But here it is:
