The word "till" voids the possibilty of the idea of a "jewish race" not passing away. If it could NOT pass away, there would be no "TILL". Instead, it would say "WHEN".

Like this: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, when all these things be fulfilled.

The word "Till" has a meaning, and is in there for a purpose. That the subject will in fact pass away.

I like the new contemporary version, it reads:

Matt. 24:34 I can promise you that some of the people of this generation will still be alive when all this happens.

Very good point, Shag. You really are coming up with some zingers lately.

Futurists must contend that Israel as a race will come to a demise when Jesus comes, or else stop saying GENERATION means RACE!

That is NOT so. Jesus was only stating the Jewish race would not be annihilated. Y'all's imagination is working with those zingers but they are pointless.

This generation will not be annialated TILL all these things come to pass?

TILL

Bro. Epley, are you reading that from a version that doesn't have the word "TILL" or "untill" in it?

(I could go for a zinger right about now, tho.)

Your answer leaves out the word "till or untill" , as if it were not there at all, and has no meaning at all. But, it is there for a reason, and is needed for a reason, and that is to aid in giveing us a complete thought of the point He is trying to get across. The thought youre trying to get across does not need or use, the "Till or Untill" in it at all.

Re: You Be The Judge: Afp1996 vs Jason

Bro Epley,

I do not know why you are not following Shag's reasoning, and instead gloss over it to retain your belief. The word says "TIL". That means UNTIL.

In other words, the text has to read, according to your view, the race of Israel will not be annihilated UNTIL all these things come to pass. Anyone knows that means it WILL BE annihilated after those things come to pass. Is that what you believe? Of course not. But YOU MUST believe that if you think this is speaking of a race.

But our view fits the use of the word "TIL". We believe that THAT GENERATION will not be gone -- the people alive at that time -- UNTIL all those events come to pass. UNTIL or TIL means it will occur, but NOT BEFORE a certain point. THAT POINT is when those things all come to pass. THEN the generation WILL BE GONE.

Your view claims it will never occur, which cannot be correct since the word TIL or UNTIL is used.

Elder Blume Jesus is NOT saying when these things happen the Jews will cease to exist He is only saying they will continue to exist through all these prophecies. They will never be annihilated that is NOT what is being said. They will endure is what is being said.

No it is not saying that since TIL is used, and TIL means it will happen only after a certain point. You are ignoring the reason TIL is used.

I recognize the word TIL I am saying Jesus is NOT saying there is a point of annihilation but rather they will survive TIL these prophecies are fulfilled. Thus they do not become victims of annihilation but survive.
