Re: Changing Denominations

Rhoni,

I haven't read but the first post and the last page or so of this thread. Did you ever decide what deonomination you are now?

Lutheran?
Presbyrtarian?
United Methodist?
Church of England?
Southern Baptist?
Freewill Baptist?
Missionary Baptist?
Church of Christ?
Church of God?
Assembley of God?
7th Day Adventists?
Unitarian?
Christian Science?

Enquiring minds want to know!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

You say "we", do you claim to speak for everyone?

I expect that Rhoni is human. I think that she most likely has to play the strong counselor role all day. I expect that she needs a place to be weak. Whether or not the best place for that is this forum, doesn't really matter.

Personally, I have much more respect for people who can admit their failings, then those who are afraid of what people will think, and so constantly wear a facade of strength and perfection.

Rhoni's a therapist, yes. But she's also just a person. Like all of us, she is alternately wise and foolish, good and bad, rational and emotional, perceptive and blind....and so on.
Michlow, A valid and observant analysis!

I excuse no behavior and you Mr. Buillwinkle need to come out from behind your psuedo name and post like a man! I do not excuse or justify my behavior. I am who I am and do not apologize for that or my thoughts on numerous subjects.

Blessings, Rhoni

Non-denominational and trying to be non-condemnational.

Mr or Mrs?
Did you read my post or just post reflexively when you saw my name?
Are reactions created by God or by environment and experience? Are they a part of your dna or are they a learned response?

Did you read my post at all? It had nothing to do with admitting failings other than to question blaming faulty reactions on God.

God created her, a human being, and allowed her to be born into a sinful fallen world. A world in which no human being is capable of perfection or sinlessness.

This does not mean that I believe that God is to blame for all our weaknesses, it simply means that I can understand her reasoning and feelings of frustration.

Our character and personality, is a crazy mixture of nature and nurture. Somethings are so ingrained in us that they are almost impossible to change. But isn't that what a faith walk is? Living with our weaknesses and hoping and striving for something better?

Maybe it's because I've been there, that I see this so clearly. Rhoni isn't looking for answers. She isn't looking for someone to fix things, or tell her what she needs to do, or even point out things that she already knows deep down inside.

I think she's simply looking for validation. Someone to say "I know it's hard. I know it's painful. I know it's a struggle. It's ok to feel frustrated. It's ok to want to give up sometimes. It's ok to have issues. You don't have to have everything all figured out. It's natural to question and blame God when your hurting and it doesn't make any sense. He's a big God, He can take it."
