Although I certainly understand the concerns here. And they are justified.
I wonder where were the ones concerned when some were going overboard with the standards, causing folks to not be able to measure up and then studying for themselves to find out they were being taught things were sin when in fact it was not.
However, I wil say this. What is sin for one MAY not be for another. One may can watch TV and control what they watch where another may have no control. Same for a phone, one may can control what they say and listen to where another can not. But we don't preach against phones, yet how many have used this device to sow discord?
We need to teach LOVE God and the character of being a Christian; which is being Christ like.
You can never have a list of things to do and not do and hit every person without going over board. Folks have to learn to seek out their own salvation with FEAR and TREMBLING, which I don't think many do.

This is so very true. I have heard men cuss each other over Video or non-video. I saw one preacher pull a knife on another and cuss him out over the video issue in the 80's. How insane is that. I heard him say on several occasions - "I wish I could KILL that compromising preacher" - because he disagreed on some little standard. CRAZY CONTROL FREAKS!
And it is usually the dog that barks the loudest that got hit!

It seems some pastors want to control with lists of rules and requirements to the point that people develope a relationship with THAT instead of a relationship with God. If a man is telling them every single thing to do and how to live their live what is left for them to seek God? How can they develop conviction in their own lives? I believe in wise counsel from minister/pastors but some goes way past that. Even in raising children at some point you have to back away and give them a chance to make choices and set boundaries for themselves.

I wonder IF everyone was honest how many would say they go with the crowd on some of their positions?
For or against? Because of peer pressure or what their friends stand for???

I'm in a conundrum (sp ?) as to where I stand on the Resolution 4 issue. I truly believe that media (TV, internet, radio, etc) can be a valuable tool in reaching the lost.... and I also firmly believe that there are men of God who are able to use any and all media to win souls and it will not affect them or their church in a detrimental manner..... HOWEVER, having said that .... I also firmly believe that we have people (yes, even pastors & ministers) who will not be able to handle it - and it will affect their ministry and the churches they pastor in a very detrimental way.
So then, some would say... "well, then their walk wasn't what it should be" or "they had a 'heart' issue BEFORE and it would have come out in some other form".... that may be so, but ......
I once heard a very wise man say: "Don't tear down a fence until you know and understand why it was built" .....
I've been part of the UPCI all my life - I don't believe that we will be the only ones in Heaven - but I do believe that we are living in the end time and the enemy will use deception to cause people to lose out with God - and the sad part is, they won't even realize what happened... What does the scripture say about "even the elect will be deceived" and "Lord, we did all this in your name" and He replies "Depart from me, I never knew you...." (Forgive me if I have taken either of these references out of context.)
I just want to live close enough to Jesus to hear that still, small voice when He says "come up higher...."
Just my random rattling this morning ......
Carry on....................

Thanks... I just can't get it out of my mind: THREE VOTES.
To think that an entire organization of supposedly Oneness preachers would be split down the middle over such an absurd premise as trinitarian doctrine being acceptable.

I blame all the PAW's woes on weak leadership!
A strong leader would fight to keep their distinction and purpose.
Any organization is a weak leader away from extinction.
Concerning the UPCI, I understand the nervousness proclaimed by the alarmists, but the UPCI will be just fine! They have several good strong leaders that can step up to the plate if needed!

It will be a really cold day in a very, very hot place before you'll find 'tolerance' in me for absolute false doctrine. That's not called 'intolerance' but 'steadfast in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship'.
If truth doens't matter then why waste our time having Church.

To this we agree wholeheartedly. Maybe even more!
