Thad - I really thought he did a great job. Our brand on Christianity has alienated millions of people by our approach and condescending attitude. Joel just wants to reach people with the positive message of the GOOD NEWS!
I think most preachers - especially Pentecostal or Apostolic ones - FORGET that the Gospel means - GOOD NEWS!!!!
The past few "Apostolic" services I have been in - was all about WHAT WE ARE! WHAT WE BELIEVE! WE ARE BETTER THAN ANY OTHERS! WE HAVE THE RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE NOT LIKE THE OTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is kinda like a group identified by Jesus!
To go from running camera's and directing TV Production to pastoring a HUGE Church to writing books and being plastered all over the world as a MEGA-PASTOR and having a demanding schedule and a family and pastoral responsibilities - is a HUGE STEP! Most could not stand up to the pressure.
I don't fault him for anything he said - I think he did great. I think it took tremendous courage to go on Larry King and to answer how he did.
I don't totally agree with everything he said - but then again - I have said things I regretted and have had to re-evaluate the statements I made in the past.
I think he is a Godly, Prayerful and Spirit filled man that loves God, his Family and people. God bless Joel Osteen!
