I don't consider it to be aiding and abetting, simply by not turning someone in. Hopefully, if they are converted, they will take steps to becoming a legal resident.

After having just said let's leave ethnicity out of it - how about if we looked at it as a challenge to help our neighbors to the South? Consider for a moment: the law enforcement agencies in Northern Mexico are even more swamped than their US counterparts: remember when Tijuana had to take all the guns away from their force because it had been so thoroughly infiltrated by organized crime? Tijuana needs our help.
Also, who is suffering right at the border? Whose dessicated, often mutilated bodies do we find? White Texans? No, it's it's Hispanics that are suffering. Whose families are being torn apart by the current system of remittances?
In the U.S. three Federal Border Patrol Agents were sent to prison on suspiciously trumped up charges of "assaulting" armed drug dealers. In all three cases the agent himself was Hispanic. Coincidence?
The people of Mexico are suffering because the U.S. wants to play fast and loose on the border and treat the whole region like it's the Old West. I say again, it is the people of Mexico who are suffering the most. While there are numberous reports of crime committed by illegals against U.S. citizens, it is the Hispanic community that is forced to bear an unreasonable load because of the current system.
We're the country with the most resources. It is our responsibility to step up to the plate and implement fair and equitable policies at the border. We need to do so in a way that honors the de facto commitments we've already made with millions of "illegals" and we need to do so soon.

Coop, stand out in front of your local Home Depot and report all the illegals early in the morning...see how fast the police come to your aid

The only thing I would really disagree with is the exclusion of the Mexican government as part of the problem. BTW they are not so kind to illegals entering their country from the south when caught and they really aren't helping much at the border and in many cases the Mexican government and their elitist system of things is the main problem for WHY so many Mexicans even try to come here illegally. They cause, enable and in some cases empower them to cross over here illegally.

This issue is complex and it's not helpful when race or racial strereotypes are injected into the mix. The fact of the matter is, even when you say "Mexican" as in "a Mexican national citizen," you may be speaking of someone who is from a rather diverse ethnic background. Native American, Spanish and/or Mestizo are just some of the choices. But then again, the Native peoples represent several different and distinct cultures - Chiapas to Aztec to Apache; quite a range. So, let's leave race out of it. Like the conversation between Paul and the chief captain - it's citizenship that's under discussion ( Acts 22:28).

My wife and children are Registered Native American in the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
I am part Cherokee, Irish and Itailian. But I am called White? Go figure.
My youngest adopted child is half Mexican and White.
I am not racist. I am English speaking American citizen that is ofended by illegals and their dis-respect for Federal laws.
This racist stuff is for the birds.

BTW Mexico has lot's or resources. They have lots of mineral deposit, not including the oil, but also gems and other. They have tourism...supposedly NAFTA was to change the disparity....but it did nothing. The wealth in Mexico is in the hands of a very few AND you want to talk about racism? Who has the most in Mexico? The light skinned Spanish folks or the dark skinned Indian folks?

I read one report where Guatemalans were being shot on sight by Mexican police, except the women. They were raped and then shot.
Yes, Mexico needs to do more, but I'm not a citizen of Mexico. I'm an American and so that's who hears my loudest complaints.

I find a lack of compassion on this issue to be inhumane, and decidedly unchristlike. We are to obey the laws of the land, but we should abide by biblical principles FIRST, at the very least in our belief system, even if we don't act on those beliefs.
It isn't so simple as just getting "rid" of the people who are in this country illegally. There are families and children that are all involved. There are men who are risking a lot to come here and work to support their families, and if one of those hard-working men was my husband, I would be proud of his courage.
I do not appreciate the lack of compassion that has been shown and is being shown by politicians and the federal government. Immigration will play a huge part in how I vote in the next election. Compassion and humanitarianism will get my vote. Not "my four and no more" rhetoric.
By the way, they are PEOPLE...not "aliens"...it amazes me how impersonal we become when we want to dehumanize, usually a means to an end of relieving our own guilt...much like abortionists say "fetus" instead of "baby"...to say "baby"...it sounds like they're killing a living being. Well, these are PEOPLE...with wives and husbands and brothers and sisters and small children who depend upon them for food and shelter.
