The second time was in Pasadena, TX, in the summer of '73...Steve Munsey was preaching a tent revival. It was because of my mindset the first time that I felt it might be good for me to have a 'do over'.
Sis. Geri Glass was the pastor's wife...what a wonderful woman of God!! She tried everything she could to help my heathen soul, and convinced Bro. Glass to re-baptize me, explaining that my first baptism was sufficient.
The flesh was fighting it I guess 'cause one of my hands shot up out of the water, so they put me down a third time...all in the Name of Jesus!!
Incidently, when I received the Holy Ghost three years later, SM was preaching the revival at South Flint Tabernacle.

Was the body of sin removed the first time or the second time?

As Sis. Glass explained to me, my first baptism was sufficient. It was done more for my mind and all...they were trying their best to help me.

I have told my daughter Jacqueline that I didn't care if she chose to be rebaptised some day because she was two when she was first baptized and has no recollection of it. She also recieved the Holy Ghost... spoke in tongues for 25 min, but she doesn't remember the intitial infilling or her baptism.
Since that time, I've often wondered if I shouldn't have waited for her baptism because I think it should be something that is done that is remembered....along with committment to serve the Lord.
thanks for sharing you story Barb, cause I have often thought we seem to baptise some who really haven't made committments to serve God... and one baptism I remember thinking (a 15 year old) that she really had no intention of serving God... was just doing what others wanted her to.

My dad was baptized in the river in the month of Febuary, they cut a hole in the ice and used a ladder to get down to the water and to climb back out. When my mom was baptized a year or so earlier, they had to break the shore ice to wade out. This was in the 1920'ts,when the Pentecostal message first came to our fair city.

09/11/88 - My granddad/pastor baptized me in water....in a baptistry...
It was cold and my knees were knocking when I got in, but it was nice and warm when I came up BLOOD WASHED a moment later.
