Rumors go a lot faster than the truth...

This one has been circulated on me for 4 years... along with a whole bunch of other lies...

And I don't get that...

Once a story is told it grows...you should have expected no less from your location...

Just like it didn't happen here...but they sure tell it like it did...

They got me up there with a pair of scissors...they got the music blaring...they got my wife in a barber chair...and they have me cutting her hair while speaking in tongues...

All of this supposedly took place a week after I mailed my card in...

Brother, my wife was about the last one in our church to do anything with her hair..she was very careful not to offend...not only that, we were out almost a year before she even trimmed the dead ends...and that trim did not happen anywhere close to our church property!

But they sure do like to talk about our "Hair cutting party"...

Maybe most of the storys are just that... stories...

What is so celebratory about it other than possibly just a "wrong" spirit...

It just doesn't seem to be something to celebrate???

in other words I don't get it...
That's all I'm going to say!

I just want people to understand that this is a popular rumor and it is told on just about every church that leaves the upc...

The first time I heard this rumor was on the West Coast back in the early 90's about a man who used to assist Jimmy Shoemake left the UPC....he supposedly had a "deliverance service" where he cut his wife's hair off and danced around the platform with it in his hand...

I really don't think his wife would have let him touch her hair to wack on it...I know mine wouldn't...LOL

Just because you heard it doesn't make it truth...

IF it happened, it would be a stupid move on the part of the pastor, but I've never heard of anything like that happening...around here...or anywhere.

Stupid because: It would work under the assumption that all the women SHOULD cut their hair, or that they all would feel comfortable with it...it would assume that none of the women had a conviction against (any longer), or it would be deliberately offensive to those who do hold such a conviction.

I think it would be peer pressure, and certainly nothing that should take place in a church service.

But...again...I have my doubts (about this actually happening). It would take a pretty ignorant pastor.
