I would love to live in Southern CA but only if I were independently wealthy and did not have to work a typical job there. The cost of living is insane and the traffic the same. A great place to visit though.
Back to our apartment for a minute. We always stayed at one that has very high security and is used extensively by the music and movie studios. Over the four or five years we stayed there we had at various times as neigbhors The Spice Girls, Boyz2men, Coolio, Wu Tang Clan, Brandon Fraser, Michael Keaton, some pop stars whose names escape me right now, McCaluley Calukin, the star of Malcom In The Middle, Frankie Munez (my daughter babysat him), and the kid from the Wonder Years. This was in the mid 90's to early 2000's.

Seeing that you were that close, didya ever take in a summer concert at the ampitheater? It's a lot of fun!

I think we have narrowed it down to;
1. One day at Disneyland or Knotts
2. Cowboy / Western Museum
3. Reagan Museum Library (I have not been there since he was buried there
or since they added Air Force one. My son has never been.
We will have time for one or more things but I am not sure what yet. I also love that Peterson autmotive museum and the private tours of Paramount and Warner Brothers studios.

I can't even remember how long it's been since I have been there. Im sure there have been a lot of changes

Some nice beaches along the way, but some are state or private where you have to pay to get in.
What do you like to do besides site seeing?
Also you can check out the harbors in Oxnard and Ventura and enjoy some good restarauts and maybe even rent a boat and sail around...take a tour boat to the islands....or you might first go to Newport beach and take a boat out to Catalina Island

Are you saying that the drive north of Santa Barbara to Monterey is a dull drive. I thought this was supposed to be some of the most scenic country on the coastal highway, particulary the Big Sur coast.
Also, what is there to do on Catalina Island? It looks beautiful in the photos i have seen.

I guess my wife and I enjoy California more than any place we visit. A great place so beautiful. The ocean-mountains. Eveything but the traffic.

In-N-Out burgers is a religous experience!!!!!! That will be one of my first meals.
Elder Epley,
Tell me more about this Old Town Cafe. Where exacdtly is it, what price range, kind of food, etc.
I agree with you about your sentiments about CA including that the main bad thing is the traffic!!!

It's all ocean and dry grass...unless you are gonna stop and get out of the car or find an offramp that crosses over to the beaches...otherwise it can be pretty dull. I drive that way to campmeeting each year. Maybe if you are the passenger it might be more entertaining
Catalina has some interesting venues to check out, especially Avalon bay. You know they have buffalo o that Island? They have some interesting native plants that grow there. At night time they have a flying fish tour. Over all it's just a pretty place to be. Personally I would rather go in my own boat and sail around the island to some of the other coves.
