I agree, but all to often that's the way we establish new churches.
This is not to be critical, but
I've lived in the Cincinnati area for about 50 years.
In 1925, Bro. F.E. Curts came here from Indiana and started a church with about 13 people. This was a split from a previous church pastored by someone with the name of Brown. Bro. Curts' church was called Bethlehem Tabernacle and later became First Apostolic. For quite a few years, Bro. Curts was Dist. Supt. of the Ohio Dist. of the UPC.
In 1945 a group split off and formed the Full Gospel Church. They were not allowed to be a UPC church. At one time they were AMC (Apostolic Missionary Council) and then later ALJC. The Church name later changed to Carthage Apostolic and then later to Covenant Apostolic.
First Apostolic Church had a split in 1968 and the group that left was established as Calvary Pentecostal pastored by Bro. and Sis. Norman Paslay. It is now pastored by their son and called Calvary Church. This has always been a UPC church.
A group left Covenant Apostolic and in time became Greater Apostolic Assembly in Loveland, OH and became a UPC church.
After Bro. Joe David Sizemore died in January 2003, Bro. Hendricks came and since he is UPC, that church is now considered UPC.
So, today in Cincinnati we have 3 UPC churches that I know of:
First Apostolic
Calvary Church
Covenant Apostolic
all came from that original split in 1925.
There are other Apostolic churches in the Cincinnati area but I'm not sure of their origins. (like the one pastored by Bro. Meade who is AMF, plus several churches which are predominantly African American).
Quite a few years ago, a church was established called the Western Hills Apostolic Church. This was not a split. Bro. Eugene Price who had been part of Bro. Sizemore's Church (ALJC) established it with the blessing of his pastor. I don't remember the year. Later this became a UPC church (back in the mid to late 1970's I think). It is now pastored by one of his sons and is part of Global Network.
