I don't believe movies such as Evan Almighty or Bruce Almighty glorify God.
In fact, I think they are to some degree sacrireligious and I will not be
watching them. We should have such a holy awe of God that anything
making light about the things of God should be shunned. I Thes says "Abstain
from all appearance of evil."

and yet we haven't seen a humorous movie on the holocaust which also costs thousands their lives.. but we wouldn't call that funny..

I just can't see how folks could justify a Comical Hollywood protrayal of a Biblical Event that wasn't funny at the time..

It just shows how shallow and sickening the reasoning folks use to justify themselves and still call themselves Christian...

I can certainly appreciate Humor but not when it degrades the Word of God to just another Fairy Tale...

but of course I'm not that enlightened or free...
I take it this means you don't watch any kind of feel good Christmas story either, right? I mean, come on. The movie is designed to be a comedy, not some serious depiction of what happened when God flooded the Earth. How you can compare God doing that to what Hitler did is beyond me.

My favorite part is when he is driving and asking for a sign from God and the truck cuts him off and the truck is full of signs that say "stop" "yield" "u-turn."
Also when Bruce said, "Smite me almighty smitter." That was funny
I liked the part when he logged into his computer and instead of hearing "Yahooooooooooo" it said "Yawehhhhhhhhhh!"

Rico..this post is even below your intelligence level... I can't believe you guys are even defending this type of movie... it simply shows how doped Christians can become... imo...

If Hollywood decided to make a comedy about Calvary would you go to the movie if it was family friendly? No I doubt you would.... what is the difference between the story of Noah and Calvary...it's simply Hollywoods way of running out of material and then deciding.. Oh..We can make fun of Chrisitians and call it family friendly and they won't even know it...

My question is this...

How dumb are we??

A Special Word From Dr. James Dobson

I was also uncomfortable with the depiction of our most righteous God as an ordinary man who, though endearing and warm, danced and performed funny miracles.
...
The prophet Zephaniah describes YHWH as dancing with joy over His restored people. This is in Zeph 3:14-17.
Verse 17 could be rendered:
Do not fear Zion!
don't let your hands droop down,
YHWH your God is right there with you,
as a mighty savior.
He will rejoice over you and be glad,
he will renew you by his love,
he will shout over you with great gladness,
he will spin and dance over you with joy.

Brother, spare me. This movie isn't about Calvary and they aren't making fun of Christians. I saw Bruce Almighty and really liked it. There was a point made in all the humor and that point is that only God can handle being God. I haven't seen Evan Almighty yet, but, from what I have read, again, a point is being made in all the humor. Have you never used humor to make a point while preaching?
