I have several friends and relatives who are pastors.
And I am in good graces with every pastor I ever had.
However, when I had one brother tell me that if the pastor every told him to kill someone, he would do it...
Well, that's when I knew he was serving the pastor and not God.
By the way, that guy is now a pastor...

Heard way too much, “if my pastor is satisfied with me then God is too. If my pastor isn’t pleased with me then God isn’t pleased.”

I would of brought the pastor over and had the brother repeat what he said.
Usually, individuals say stupid “prideful” comments which the pastor has no clue about. Lot of brethren make comments without much thought. Brother so n so claims he would commit murder at the pastor’s behest, yet, he is either psychotic, or a talker. But I highly doubt that the pastor condones such stupidity.

I was in too much shock to think about what I should do.
And my pastor would not have approved of the comment.

Yet, that is how a church family works. We hear the shocking comment and take the "brother" to the pastor. In this way we are helping our brother, not the just the pastor. We know the pastor wouldn't approve of the comment, but we need to have the brother understand clearly, that the pastor doesn't need such lunacy being spoken concerning devotion towards leadership. Look, I don't believe the brother would commit homicide for his pastor. He was using a strong scenario to show his devotion to his minister. Yet, brother so n so, has to be schooled in the art of expression. This can be done by his pastor having the look of a Mule eating briars, when you have brother so n so repeat his passionate embellishment. Paul said follow me as I follow Christ. Therefore if the apostle wasn't on the same page as Jesus, the people weren't to follow him. Ministry need to hear what some jokers think and correct the matter before the individual takes his show on the road and makes such proclamations to neophytes and visitors. Remember, church isn't church with one man, it takes all of us to get the show on the road. We are our brothers keeper. Especially when they make us raise an eyebrow.

Re: “Elevating Pastors”

What If the pastor goes on vacation and like no one shows up the next service?

Is that a problem?
