Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
Pentecostal Handbook by Richard Crayne. Published in 1963. It is a collection of tidbits of obscure Pentecostal history. Mainly down south.
Several personal letters of Azusa participants are included that are otherwise unknown.
There is also a paragraph or two on the social purity doctrine. There is a collection of sabbath keeping Pentecostal churches.
But the majority of the people I am writing about are not mentioned in this book.
It is full of data I have not found anywhere else. Since it is self published, it does not show up in the scholarly literature. Bonus section has a collection of pictures of early Pentecostals probably from down south, as I do not recognize them.
I came in the mail a few hours ago. Still reviewing the content.

*The Source* James Michener
In his signature style of grand storytelling, James A. Michener transports us back thousands of years to the Holy Land. Through the discoveries of modern archaeologists excavating the site of Tell Makor, Michener vividly re-creates life in an ancient city and traces the profound history of the Jewish people—from the persecution of the early Hebrews, the rise of Christianity, and the Crusades to the founding of Israel and the modern conflict in the Middle East. An epic tale of love, strength, and faith, The Source is a richly written saga that encompasses the history of Western civilization and the great religious and cultural ideas that have shaped our world.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I forgot to mention I'm reading through the New Testament in the New King James Version of the Bible, currently in Luke, and also reading through the Old Testament in the English Standard Version of the Bible, currently in Job, and skip, hop, and jumping my way through the Old Testament in the New Living Translation of the Bible, currently in Ezekiel.
If I didn't spend so much time here, I might have finished more of these books I keep buying.

Now you make me feel better, for even though I am not reading a Christian book or a biblical book, I do plenty of hopping and skipping through numerous books across the whole Bible.
Yeah, skipping and hopping.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I finished Tolstoy's Confession and now am reading Soren Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling, a treatise about what must have gone through Abraham's mind when God spoke to him and commanded him to sacrifice Isaac. I'm not sure where it's going just yet, but the beginning sees the author trying to wrap his head around how Abraham could simply obey God in the matter, without any seemingly negative response on his part.
