Oh...sorry.

I just looked at the last page of the thread, and didn't get the context right.

My bad.

It's cool.. that was in fact a great reply to the following scenario:

Q: Have you read your Bible today?

A: I tried, but it lost it's glitter.

And really, that is what I read it as.

There have been days mine has seemed to have lost its glitter, and other days when I couldn't put it down, and have wet the pages with tears.

My desire for the Word is one of the spiritual vital signs I pay close attention to.

If I don't read the word, I can't pray. In that order, usually.

I like that and can totally relate to it. If I have a patient whose temp is rising and whose blood pressure is fallling, I know things are going downhill quickly.

What are the other spiritual vital signs you look for?

As a pastor, when I see people who have been punctual start showing up late, it is ususally not good news.

When their worship dies, and they just sit unmoved, it isn't good.

If they stop giving, it is not good news.

When the Word doesn't move them, it is bad news.

When they start withdrawing from the church people and isolating themselves, it is getting critical.

Great observations. I've been through all of those.

I've heard my pastor say similar things and I agree.

For myself, there are some things I try to monitor.

My desire and zeal for prayer and the Word.

My patience with my children and the saints...

How easily and often I am moved deeply by just reading the Word....when my spirit is tender, I often find myself wiping tears while I read. If I get a little calloused, that doesn't happen.
