I read that most of the jobs are minimum wage and due to increased military activity, because of the many bases in TX.

I doubt it. California lost a lot of good paying jobs to Texas. Businesses have moved there due to lower taxes and fees

I see you have been mesmerized by Axelrod's continuing lying mantra. Threatened by a Perry run, He has to resort to making Perry look insignificant as a leader of our state. That is to be expected.
I love how Perry is going to be making a showing in Iowa at the same time that Obama is pulling in. A contrast between a success (Perry) and a failure (Obama). Excellent strategy on Perry's part. And it was hilarious when Obama got all defensive with a Texas reporter who asked him why he was so unpopular in Texas. Obama's answer, “If what you’re telling me is Texas is a conservative state, you’re absolutely right.” Doesn't that tell you something Obama?
Prax is correct with his answer, but there is more involved than that.
Our manufactured goods like electronics, chemicals, and machinery account for a bigger chunk of our exports than petroleum does.
We have had an upsurge is natural gas production. And we have focused more on services and technology than on intuition and wildcatting in regard to our energy complex.
Our housing market has done well because Texas law prohibits consumers from using home-equity lines of credit to increase borrowing to more than 80 percent of the value of their homes.
Texas also had it's own electricity grid which isn't connected to neighboring states. We can build transmission lines without worrying about federal jurisdiction or consulting other states. We have also created around 10,000 jobs with wind energy production.
Texas rocks and we know it!

But it doesn't mean it has to be that way. If more Christians were to make a headway into leadership roles and get other Christians off their duffs to do something rather than sit back and say, well this is the way it is going to be so why try and change it, we might actually get some MORALS into government. BUT as long as everyone has the mentality that Christians can not do it without being dirty then that is exactly how it is going to stay.

His biggest liability will be the Liberals hitting him with "cronyism". And we will see how the "protecting our borders" he addressed will work for him in regard to the Mexican border. Although, he handled himself very well with that question during the debates with Debra Medina on his last run for Governor. So, I'm thinking he won't really have a big problem with that. We shall see.
His biggest strength is that he will be running on Liberty, Freedom and Jobs. He can put his money where his mouth is on that issue. Like Ferd always declares - "It's the economy, stupid."
I understand Obama was playing golf, in the rain, during Perry's speech. He must have been thinking - "Don't rain on my parade." Too late, Buddy. LOL!
Some will say that half the jobs created in Texas have been minimum wage. His rebuttal will be - "Would you rather they be unemployed?" The lower class need to work to stay off of welfare.
It will be interesting to see how Nikki Haley plays a part in this. She knows the tax code well and worked in the accounting department, for her parents, beginning at age 14. Interesting woman.
Some have wondered if he is coming in like Fred Thompson did that last go round. I say, No way! Perry has presence, something Thompson does not have as much.
Right now, at the beginning, Perry is running 46% percentage favored against Obama's 51%. Perry isn't as well known as Romney, so that looks pretty good to start. He can only go up, because we know Obama will go down.
