Jesus wore a robe. If we are going to base our dress on what they wore in the bible then the men should be in robes as well...just like the Arabs wear in the Middle East today.

Scary thought that some Pentecostals would actually find validation among Islamic extremists...

Exactly the point. The strict dress is a direct result of the men in that society not being taught to control and own their lust. Lust and self control in the Arab world is not an issue of inward control by the men, it is an issue of outward control imposed on the women.

Uh I was not finding validation... but then I wasn't looking for it.

I liked it because they do have a right to practice the wearing of a veil. I am not appalled by them pacticing this if it is a choice by the women.

I have a link that I can't post in the forum because of the content, but it is a list of quotes from studies and various scholars into sexuality in the middle east and other muslim nations and the results are VERY shocking. The men are HIGHLY sexualized beginning while infants in many countries.

Years ago many Muslim men prized young boys while they were before puberty because of the fairness of their features...they could still look like girls.

No pictures but I am sure the content would bother some of you all so I can't post the link...I can PM it though if you are interested/

I also have some good links on the origins of Islam and pre islamic Arabs that are pretty interesting too

*sigh* Superman has nothing on you... able to jump to inane conclusions in a single bound. It's TRIUMPANTMAN!!!!!!!!!

I was just saying that because people who, by your reasoning above find validation among modern styles & trends, seem to reserve such judgement for people who dress this way (almost as if it were evil) when, in all probability, it is very similar to the way women dressed at the time of Jesus.

I have no desire to see my wife wear the "blanket" that has been spoken of in this thread but I also have no desire to ridicule others who choose to wear it.

If there are women being beat into wearing these things then that is another subject entirely. One cannot just paste a wholesale accusation that every woman wearing this garb has been pistol whipped into submission.

People, oftentimes, have the same conclusion about conservative pentecostal women.

Why?

Because they don't think like we think and so they assume that we must oppress these women to force them to wear such conservative clothing because they just cannot imagine anyone doing it because it is what they love, how they feel and their desire to do so.

Are Moroccans Muslim? They are very aggressive! I found that out when I was approached by a couple of them in a hotel in Canton one time. They have this impression of North American women based on what they see and hear coming out of Hollywood. It has a corrupting influence around the world!

I've heard, but not verified, that a high percentage Middle-eastern men are also homosexual or bi-sexual.

Sorry to have reduced you to name calling and defensive mumbo jumbo...which is exactly why I no longer participate in these stupid dicussions on standards.

Thanks for reminding me.

The fact remains that in the Arab world the women take the hit outwardly because the men are not taught self control over their lusts inwardly. If there is any correlation to any other "female standard focused" group is just opinion and not really worth debating.
