If Amazon is opposed to censorship, why don't they allow the sale of pornography on their site? As Anderson Cooper put it, "It's legal, it's popular, and involves consenting adults...." Why ban material like that, but allow something that promotes crimes against children?

In fairness to Amazon, they have millions of titles of books with various subject matter. If they took the book off their site after a response by the public, their customers, then that's good... and that's exactly what should happen.
Does anyone know what the book really was? Did it include child pornography? What was it all about? Those were my q's... obviously, Amazon reviewed it enough to think it needed to be pulled as well.
Bottom line: Amazon is not our moral compass... the free market worked. Enough people complained, Amazon reviewed their complaint and agreed, pulling the book.

What does that mean?
I definitely agree that the complaints worked. I'm glad people still know they can exercise that right and let companies know when they behave unsatisfactorily.
Soc-lite is correct, IMHO. And Amazon is "not our moral compass..." the Word of God is. This means we can petition and seek to influence Amazon (and other companies) in an attempt to bring them more into line with our "moral compass." But that it might be naive to expect a large company to always reflect wholesome values - or even reflect its own stated values all the time.
I wonder about the submission process to the Amazon Digital Services. Can anyone post just about anything for sale and have it stand until "the suits" take notice and act?
In fairness, that's how posting on this forum works. Anyone can say anything (except the few words that don't post no matter what) and have it appear on AFF until some sort of admin action is taken. That's pretty much the nature of the beast.
So, "Thanks for acting, Amazon." I'm still puzzled by the lag time before action was taken, but thanks for the action when it did occur.
FWIW - the book featured currently on their main page is titled: "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." That seems appropriate.

There is an excerpt from the book that is posted on the discussion page of the FB group. I almost vomited- it's really that bad.

Something wrong when it is so difficult to get bibles in public schools and so hard to get smut and porn out of the eyes of children.
Conservatives are up in arms about the appointment of Kevin Jennings, Obama's director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, saying he is too radical for the job.
...
Another controversy from Jennings' past concerns an account in his 1994 book, "One Teacher In 10," about how, as a teacher, he knew a high school sophomore named Brewster who was "involved" with an "older man":
"Out spilled a story about his involvement with an older man he had met in Boston. I listened, sympathized, and offered advice. He left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated.""
"I don't want to be tolerated. I don't want to be put up with. I want to be ... celebrated," says GLSEN leader Stephen Glassman. In his book Always My Child, Jennings proposes a "diversity policy that mandates including LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] themes in the curriculum." But Jennings and GLSEN & Co. have redefined tolerance and diversity to mean celebration and perversity; they have no tolerance, for example, for former homosexuals who now warn youngsters of the dangers of the "gay" lifestyle. Tolerance and diversity are a one-way street, says traffic cop Jennings, which must always lead to a LGBT destination. "Ex-gay messages have no place in our nation's public schools," Jennings has declared. "A line has been drawn. There is no 'other side' when you're talking about lesbian, gay and bisexual students."
The problem is in the countries leaders. Amazon is not the source of the problem.
It's good they took it down. Maybe I shouldn't care whether it was motivated by a change of heart and a realization that it never should have been there in the first place, or just damage control, but, well, I don't feel motivated to do business with them any time soon. Just sayin'.

In an as-yet unexplained turn of events, the page was removed last night, reappeared, and then disappeared again.
Hmmm. Glitch? Maybe.

This odd turn of events follows yesterday's unexplained activity in which more than 100 customer comments on the "Pedophile's Guide" page dwindled to less than 30, before quickly surging into the hundreds.
Another glitch?

Homosexuality has been accepted as norm and their continued mantra is "why would anyone choose this lifestyle if they weren't born this way with all of the discrimination they experience"
Don't think it isn't possible that this will also happen for pedophiles.
