White House debunks "wildly inflated" $200M-per-day price tag for Obama's India trip
November 03, 2010 4:31 pm ET by Sarah Pavlus
According to a White House spokesman, the claim -- circulated by Rush Limbaugh and the Drudge Report -- that President Obama's November trip to India will cost the U.S. $200 million per day has "no basis in reality."
In a November 2 article headlined, "US to spend $200 mn a day on Obama's Mumbai visit," the Press Trust of India reported:
media matters huh? kind of like asking a felon if he was guilty.
but this time, i find the lack of credible sources to be telling. no way its that high. 2 million a day is possible. 200 is just not.

Using these very conservative figures, Air Force One cost $214,768 and the cargo plane cost $32,140. For a grand total of $246,908 for Mr. Obama’s two round trips. (to Chicago)
But of course that is just for Mr. Obama’s air transportation. And it doesn’t even cover all of that.

The cost of operating Air Force One is $40,243 per hour of flight. Each year the Pentagon spends approximately $185 million on travel expenses for the President and his top aides, according to the House Post Office Committee's Subcommittee on Human Resources.

40 planes and 3,000 people involved. The freighters are flying limos and helicopters. Just the outdoor innaguration victory party for Obama in Chicago was $ 2 million dollars he owed the city.
Not food, hotels and airplanes.

coadie, dont defend something that cannot be defended. it just makes you look bad....
that rate would be equal to $66,666.67 per person per day.
Not possible.

I don't know where they get their numbers. I also remember the millions wasted on limos and junk just attending the little Climate Warming summit in Copenhagen. If the DOD can find a 700 dollar hammer, they will.
Really, just think this out logically. They are going to be there for what, 2 days?
Does anyone here really think that they are going to spend close to half a billion dollars on 2 days in India?
Come on, I know you guys hate him, but at least think logically.
TWISP you can't even get the days right. Give us YOUR source for two days! Come on, why did you post it if you didn't have any sources! And by the way..... it seems you are so knowledgable, how much do you think it will cost for 3,000 people to make a 10 day trip. Come on...share your vast knowledge and wisdom with us!!!! But, be sure and give us your sources.

yeah, but at least you can try and research this before you post it. If you would have even read the sources linked from your article, you would have seen the one that contradicted your article.
Post that he is going on a trip, don't post something that isn't true.
why not? You did!!!!
