I've also inherited skepticism, a healthy skepticism that I think is actually healthy. It's not one of cold unbelief, as much as cautious curiosity.
As far as Rev. Wright, he isn't too different than many of our black brothers/sisters' church cultures today (like it or not).... Jesus was a friend of idiots too... and he was judged by them too. Not saying Obama is Jesus (of course not), but showing you how that "who is he friends with" argument sometimes falls short. Obama is a politician. Finding people he's had some form of relationship with in his past that have done things we don't approve of, or believe things we find appalling is desperately reaching.
Keep the argument on the facts. Argue against his political ideas. Have at it. Discuss what the best way to run a government the size of ours is... and one that consists of as many people as ours does. Have that argument. But when believes get into these arguments about "he's not Christian enough" it's quite sad and lame to me at the same time.

Some religious arguments can't be separated from political arguments.
"The Rev. Rick Warren: “Forty million abortions since Roe v. Wade. At what point does a baby get human rights in your view?”
Is it okay to do away with a toddler in the privacy of your home? If not, why not? Social justice says privacy is an absolute right.

My response that you don't like and called "Childish" contains a point if you think reeeeeeeaaaaaallllll hard. Give it a shot.

If I was the poster child of humility, I would be proud of it also.

The keyword there.
And, for example abortion, is more a case over the battle for universal morality -- and even ethics. The life of the unborn is a difficult issue. For the believer even, we are presented scenarios that we must be guided with an ethic or we wouldn't know what to think.
It sounds silly when you keep saying "social justice." Your unique usage takes away from some of the things you say sometimes. Social justice says??? If anything, social justice would be less about private individual rights, wouldn't it, Coadie?
And to that point, I would hope all my conservative friends would agree that privacy is a protected right. Privacy that does not harm the rights of another human being, being the key. Law helps protects the rights of all.
Anyway, your reply was really off-topic. We are talking about attacking a man's faith whom you disagree with politically. Not sure how we got over here.

In December 2007 he claimed his mother was a Christian; three months later she was not, and now he's certain of an afterlife, having "subscribed to" that notion of which he remained skeptical for two decades since the altar call.

Just two weeks later in April, the self-described "devout Christian" expressed privately to San Francisco millionaires his derision of Christians who "cling to religion."

Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent."
The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet...."
According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim's complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam. Obama chanted it with pride and finesse.

Actually he didn't deride Christians, he derided Right-Wing Fundamentalists whose politics rested on "guns and religion." It's a statement that deserves criticism, but not misrepresentation!
You are continuing the same thing on repeat mode. We get that Obama, like other past Presidents, has the idea that you pick the faith you most identify with, but you can also hold the idea that all will be in heaven. You're intent on proving he's not only a phony Christian, but that he's a secret Muslim. It's just ludicrous.

The life of the unborn is a simple issue. It is NOT a political issue but has been hijacked by politics. One of us has delivered babies. They are babies while in the womb. Being human is not dependent on location. The liberal view can't tell us when they become human enough to have human rights.
So in response to your reference to political views. Obama claims rights and protections of the unborn humans and born alive humans are not conferred to the offspring. They are religated by political guidlines.

I beg to differ. And I'd say that it's difficult, even from the perspective of a believer. Shall I start throwing out some ethical situations where a value judgement must be made one way or the other?
You're right it's been hijacked by politics. Not all liberals (or libertarians) base their argument on the morality or immorality of abortion. That's where you error.
As far as your breakdown of Obama's views concerning abortion, I'm not following. Nor do I likely even agree with him one iota on the topic.
