I started a thread on social justice.
The car ordeal has a bit of environmental justice agenda in it.
In a democracy, or democratic republic, you don't take over CAR factories and shaft the secured bond holders.
Fannie and Freddie are GSE's Detroit and AIG were not.

Carbon tax and trade schemes are socialist endeavors.
The EPA is also crossing the line. They say they demand small dangerous and deadly cars to save on CO2 pollution.

I agree quite a bit with trickle down economics. But some of the super rich have so many fingers in the government, buying their way in until the rules and regulations are made by special interest groups for profiteers. That is where the problem lies. When the rich run the government for their own profits to the loss of the middle class, we have a problem. Look all over America.....middle class households have lost so much money in home equity. That's just one example. Middle class lost because these guys were gambling with the money, making loans to those who could not repay and they knew better. There were regulations in place to keep this from happening UNTIL they repealed those laws (and many fought hard to repeal them) and the big money guys went in like vultures. Now, banks won't lend money after they were balied out on top of it.
Economics is a very, very complex issue.

I personally believe we need to have limits on stuff like campaign contributions, lobbyists and I believe we need term limits for congress and the senate

I assume I would not win any friends if I admit... unashamedly, that I believe voting eligibility should be based on whether or not you paid taxes in a given year.
(and I don't mean that you paid in $2000 for the year, and received a $3000 tax return... I'm talking about when you total everything up for the year that you paid in significantly more than you received as a refund on your tax return)

There should be no lobbyists period. If our representatives want to know what we want then they should ask us. They can create polls and questionares for little of nothing. Lobbyists represent companies and orgs , not the people.

So if you file taxes but have enough write offs that you owe nothing, you can't vote?

Exactly! They are supposed to represent US not some company. That bothers me to no end.
