Not my favorite, but I grew up with people who loved to sing "I'm a tongue-talking-holy-rollin-born-again-heaven-bound-believer-in-the-liberating-power-of-Jesus'-name...." Kind of the same thing, modernized. (A little bit, anyway.)
Was that song (one-God, Apostolic, etc) sung in church services? We sang it as kids, but it was more of a fun thing, a tongue-twister to see how fast we could sing it without getting tangled up. I would have thought it was WEIRD to hear it sung in church.
I can't stand that 'I'm a Pentecostal' song. God's supposed to get the glory, not me.

Absolutely! (Only a few times that I can remember, actually....)
Remember "Can't Get To Heaven on Roller Skates (or insert any *sin* in particular here?" )
I don't think everything in church has to be serious, OR that everything has to be "vertical." I do think it's weird when something funny or superficial gets a really serious response, like in the Hokey Pokey video.

I don't think everything has to be vertical, but songs that talk about how wonderful "we" are bug me.
Any of the "this is an Apostolic church, we don't do this or this or that...." type songs just annoy the daylights out of me. Especially when there are non-Apostolic people there.
Sorry wrong link, I meant to post my all time favorite Pentecostalism song

Oh my stars....Don't even get me started on this song.

LOL!!! I know what you mean. I'm just saying...different strokes for different folks--to a point, anyway.

Another fun song we sang as kids (not Pentecostal-oriented, just Christian), was "I am a C - I am a C..H - I am a C..H..R..I..S..T..I..A..N. And I have C..H..R..I..S..T in my H..E..A..R..T... and I will L..I..V..E..E..T..E..R..N..A..L..L..Y!" We would sing it faster and faster and faster until we got all tongue-twisted. It was fun, but another one that would have been weird in church.

What a great point, I really haven't thought of it that way--seems like the adoration that belongs to God is going to man.

It is. It just grates on me. There's one in particular that goes down the list of standards..."The women don't wear makeup in this church! They don't cut their hair or blah, blah, blah!" It literally turns my stomach.
