I'll take a shot with this one....
1. because God does not do things "just because" (outward signs of inward changes).
2. because the salvation we are all seeking is the one that comes when we finish this race, when we have run our own course, when we have endured unto the end. Any believing each of us have in any command sourced by God's word, places us in a need to respond if we believe.
Our responses to God's commandments are not independant of salvation because salvation is not viewed in a rear view mirror but in a patient continuance extending from our second birth.
