I can see that, and you are very gifted! Your style reminds me a lot of my sister’s, and she is also a very talented decorator. She used to be paid $3K a house to decorate for Christmas and that was not extensive, just usually fireplace, tree and front window area, she made a lot of money at Christmas season. (that was 10 years ago too) Another sister was a florist before becoming a broker. Between these two sisters, I was taught the art of bow and wreath making. God chose to gift my family with an artistic flair for decorating. The beauty of our surroundings were evidently emphasized growing up, there is a love for color and coordinating. You can not look at the beautiful building that my father designed and built as the church he pastored and not see the ability.
The diversity in each of our styles is interesting. It ranges from the old and antique to more traditional to the very modern, and I am some what in the middle of that traditional – modern stage. For whatever reason, right now I am on a “toy/workshop” kick. My desk/area at work is done in that… and I will always love snowmen at Christmas.
I enjoy seeing all the pictures you post at Christmas and throughout the year. I can’t always post during the day, but find them interesting to view.
I will say that I really truly do regret not utilizing all those little ornaments my kids made growing up…. they are neatly packed away in a bucket w/each of their names on it, along with everything else they’ve made me in school.
I used to do the mountains under the tree and let the kids arrange the village houses, nativity scene, etc. That seemed to satisfy them and let me decorate the tree how I wanted.
One year I decided to put on the traditional candy canes. They didn't last long and so I quit doing it. I just couldn't see that candy sticking to their teeth for a month! LOL!
I don't think that I have a natural flair for decorating. I have to make a lot of adjustments, breath in and out, throw things and start over! I like my tree this year, but my camera is turning my burgundy berries pink and my gold sprays yellow. It's very aggravating and I don't know how to fix it.
My daughter and I have a lot of the same love of color - sage greens, ochre, chocolate brown, etc., but our styles are totally different.
She has a natural flair. It doesn't take her any time at all to achieve her goals. Everything she touches always has a professional look. If I gave that to her, I want it back!!!!! LOL!

Now I probably am more like you in the fact that I do a lot of doing, redoing and working to get it the way I want. I still see the natural talent in our being able to do that. I vision everything done though before I do it… and not everyone can do that. I drive my kids crazy, they do not vision it done…I’m a perfectionist. I’ve been redoing my daughter’s bedroom and I picked out the paint, rugs, wall décor and she was wrinkling her nose at some things… she did not see what I was seeing in finished product. (still isn’t done). I used Chocolate brown and other browns in the room w/ice blue.
My sister however is like your daughter, she touches it and it is beautiful and has a very professional look the first time and she is very quick. That is why she can make money doing it. I am too much of a perfectionist and mess with things too much.

Yes, we do seem to approach our projects in the same way. I'm also a perfectionist. Even when I'm finished, I am not always 100% pleased.
My daughter did her bedroom in chocolate brown and the ice blue. It is gorgeous!
