If I were stopped with my children in the car, I would DEFINITELY cooperate for their protection, if nothing else. Talk about STUPID parenting.

What law did she break to be arrested for? Is it unlawful to get out of car? is it unlawful to not get back if cops tell you to? Like actual law, only can arrest if law broken not because one feels their cophood has been violated.

One of my neighbors is a cop, so I'll ask him when I get a chance.

Nope, not at all. I think he was acting like a big, narcissistic wimp. He should be reprimanded. But she still acted stupidly-- especially since her kids were in the car.
I think police are more likely to abuse their power when they carry non-lethal weapons, because they know the victim won't be killed. If he had just had a gun on him, I doubt he would have killed her because she was arguing and being difficult. But tazing seems acceptable since it's relatively harmless. Additionally, it was dangerous for him to take her down right in the roadway.
I'm just acknowledging her stupidity for being argumentative and uncooperative. Police have a job to do, and they need to be allowed to do their job, even when they're wrong. There's no need to endanger yourself or your children because of a ticket. It can be protested later in court. Protecting your life? Sure. Endanger yourself. I would. But protecting your pocketbook? Not worth it, IMO.
...I guess I was with Ferd, except on the "TAZE THEM ALL" comments. LOL!!!!

He did also when he was standing next to the van??

All cops deserve getting sued if it takes this long for internal affairs to investigate.
This is criminal on the sheriff part. So the news reports she offered to show him the cell phone hadn't been used for 2 hours and she has her charges swiched to sppeeding. When she was speeding? she slowed down to change lanes and turn right. The cop knows that. He also turned and slowed down to get behind her and stop her.
the article gives a good news report. No wonder internal affairs won't release a report

Miss B,
I will agree with you on that one.
However, he was confusing - get in the car, get out of the car.....make up your mind!

True, but I think ANY cop would feel threatened if they said to remain in the car, and someone got out and moved toward them anyway.
Chances are she might have gotten a warning ticket if she had just waited for him to come back. I've been stopped several times, and I have yet to receive a ticket. 2x I was going 15+ over the speed limit. (Okay, I'm not proud of that--Jeff says it's a sin...LOL!!!!!) I am always polite, I never argue, and I'm very straightforward about where I'm going/what I'm doing, etc. I even tried to outrun a cop in Tulsa one time, and tried to hide in the Rib Crib parking lot, and STILL didn't get a ticket. He laughed at me. Out loud. Even harder when I told him I was a church music director, and was trying to get home to pick up my husband, and then get back to church within 30 minutes.
I'm just sayin'. You catch WAY more flies with honey.

Re: Cop tases Mom While Kids Watch
Does anyone know if it's unlawful to not get in a car when a ciop tells you to?
I thought I read in that state cops can only use tazer if one is posinga threat, doesn't seem to apply in this case.

Kids in the van for 40 minutes.

I am surprised they didn't take the children into protective custody and mess with them.
We are in a world where officers need to be punished also for wrong doing.

Time for the cop to take a deep breath. He is giving contradictory instructions.

That's true, but she disobeyed his first instruction, right? I think that threw him off, and then he just started reacting badly (to say the least).
I'm just pointing out that as a mother, my first concern is my children--not saving money, making a political point or salvaging my pride. So from that perspective, I think she acted stupidly.
