I think our esteemed brother HaShaliach has something when he said that the instruction did not stop at acts 2:38

I agree, in fact that was the point that I was making about there is more to this then a prayer of salvation. I think we are on the same page, for the most part, on this one.

not received the Holy Ghost? We can see in this passage of scripture that
one does not automatically receive the Holy Ghost when he believes on the

Acts 8:12-17
12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Don't confuse them with the truth.

It is funny that they try to put the sinners prayer on the one-steppers. Just like you can follow Acts 2:38 and not be born again so can you say the sinners prayer and not be saved. This is one of the top arguments that I get from three-steppers, that they disagree with the sinners pray of salvation. I think WE ALL would agree that the sinner's prayer is not the new birth.

Does it say they spoke in tongues? Can anyone please direct me to any verse that shows where they were praying and striving for the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues?

Re: 3 steppers
I am a confessed/convicted One Stepper! I have never believed that the "sinner's" prayer was sufficient for salvation. One may say ANYTHING to God or anyone else and it means nothing if the heart is not in it. A prayer without a surrender does nothing. True justification is a result of our submission to our Lord and God and His kingdom. One CANNOT simply say a prayer and be saved. It is not in the SAYING of any prayer that is efficacious. It takes kavanah!
