I think some people just take what the pastor says and then they do not take the time to pick up there bible to see where it is and question it afraid of what might happen if they did..
This is where the "Obey them" is used as a catch-all to literally make anything biblical -whether it is biblical or not.
I have also always wondered why the harshest and strictest standard is always the "lowest common denominator" that must be followed? If a man who wears a wedding ring goes into a group who do not believe in them, why does HE have to be the one to remove it? Why will the others never put one ON for his sake?
That doesn't make sense, RW. That would be asking the man who is offended by meat to EAT meat. You shouldn't ask someone to sin against their own conscience and convictions.
To them it is a sin to wear a ring, but is it a sin for you to remove yours? If it is, then you are both at an impasse, but if you can remove your ring in preference to your brother, then it's probably a good thing to do to avoid offense.

dress up for God's house/temple on Sunday. Dress down for God's house/temple on Wednesday. Trouble is, we are his house/temple. Stephen said that God no longer dwelt in temples(house) made with hands, and he got stoned to death. Sometimes I feel that we're still trying to put God back in a OT house/temple, more than in us, his nt temple/house.

Are electric razors worldly ?

People who are always looking for fault, can find it easily all they have to do,is look into their mirror.
There they can find plenty of fault.
This is a case of extra biblical commandments being taught from the pulpit. If there be any offense it was caused by pulpit teachings which have no basis in the Bible.
This may be true. But if you have a church that has always been taught, by former pastors, that it's wrong, and they find it offensive... it can be very disruptive to suddenly say - "It's no problem, go for it!"
Sometimes it's wisdom to go slowly. "There's no biblical basis against beards, but for now we don't do it so we don't give offense." Once people have a chance to adjust their minds to the fact that it's not sin, then it won't be so offensive to them when a man wears one.
There is a difference between actually offending someone and a self-righteous pig looking down their nose at you - I personally could care less if I "offend" those who are self-righteous - Jesus did it plenty of times.

Absolutely true, but not everyone is self-righteous.

Yep... that's how Jesus did it.
Oh... wait... no he didn't. Sorry.
How much is a church unweaned from the milk of the word if a beard (which their Lord and Savior wore also) is such an offense.
The church needs to do some growing up. You never know... they might even reach the world if they do.
