The heresy hunters are still with us. Only now, instead of stakes, they use their books and radio programs to destroy those they consider heretics.... I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....
"I will not leave you comfortless, I will come back to you" - John 14
If he's not, then is he not speaking out of line in john 14? Do we have 2 comforters?
What did he mean when he said that, if hes not the Comforter?

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. - Eph. 4:29
Jesus said that if he did not go away, then the comforter would not come.
Why did he have to go away physically, for the comforter to come?
and where did he physically go?
Do the scriptures say anything other than going "to the Father", when referring to where he went?, (in order for the comforter (HIMSELF/his Spirit) to come.)
Is it all about a spotless sacrifice ascending to the Father having to precede the coming Comforter/ Jesus' Holy Spirit coming?
Somebody, untangle this.
not to mention he breathed his Spirit on them before Acts 2 (John 20:22) Did they not receive his Spirit when He said "Receive ye the Holyghost?
Just a token of what was soon to come??? So did they receive his Spirit, or not in John 20:22 ( "the token")?
Theres another one to untangle.
It's not that complicated...people have made it something its not. Truth is...God had a son whose name was Jesus, Jesus was exalted having gone through Calvary and coronated at Pentecost.
Jesus is still alive and physically ruling over His kingdom which God promised to David an everlasting kingdom without end. The Holy Spirit which you and I enjoy is given to us "with measure" while we walk on this earth.
The problem with typical OP doctrine is that Jesus is merged with the Father until the Son is non-existent and many are afraid to admit "God has a Son". This is problematic because the "intercessor" is removed and hence many walk in "judgment" not knowing Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is the same spirit which dwelled in Christs' physical body. The difference between Jesus and every man who would follow is that the Father gave the Holy Spirit to Jesus without measure to "testify" that He was the Son of God.
The problem with the "rapture" doctrine is that it isolates Christians from the world. It's a very selfish salvation. The whole thought that "I'm leaving" so I don't need to make the world a better place.
Jesus died for the world, not from the world. We are commanded to do likewise. We are not saved from the world, but for the world. We are saved to change lives. To us has been given the ministry of Reconciliation.
People want to think that they are free from the doctrines of the Trinty just because they are oneness... but people still hold onto trinity doctrines.

Am I excited for the "rapture?" Hmmm. I think I'll probably get my head chopped off long before the second coming. But if I some how manage to be "alive and remain" I will greatly look forward to the gathering together of the elect.
64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
KJV
Let's get in line with Jesus then... he told the high priest that he would see him coming i nthe clouds and sitting on the right hand of power. Did the high priest see Jesus come again?
Wonder how the Apostles including Paul and Peter missed it since they were, decades after Pentecost yet looking for a FUTURE return of the physical appearance of Jesus. It is surprising to me that they MISSED IT. Besides, I have no recollection of the priest seeing his physical return. I doubt that you have any such recollection.
Wonder how the angel standing with the disciples could have been so mistaken: "This SAME Jesus whom ye see go away shall come again IN LIKE MANNER, as ye see him go."
Sure seems to be a lot of folks, including the angels that disagree with you. Yet, you tenaciously hang on to your ideas.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
. . .
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
I long for the second coming of Jesus and rapture of the saints. There will be much more desire for this as we enter into the great tribulation. As the world crumbles around us and our faith is tested by fiery persecution amighty outcry will go up in prayer. Come Lord Jesus!
I'm confused here. I surely thought you believed in the rapture. Although it is understood that term in not in the bible we all know it refers to catching away.
Sister,
indeed, I do believe in the catching away, our gathering together with him in the air at his return.
But, many things that are taught today in the name of "rapture" is not biblical and I don't like using the word for that reason. There is too much confusion in its usage. We have Mr. Darby, Clarence Larkin, Hal Lindsey, and lately Tim LaHaye some of whom have made millions of dollars on reinforcing that error. I don't believe the popular theory of the Rapture.
But, let me once again reinterate...I fully expect to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air if I am still alive at His glorious, triumphant return to subdue every kingdom bringing about his will (through us) on earth as it is in heaven. There will be no more sorrow, death, pain, cancer, diabetes, blindness, lame or sick...even the ground and plant life will have a new beginning when redemption of all creation is complete which began in you and I. The whole of creation is now groaning and in travail waiting on the redeemed of the Lord to take dominion over all creation as God originally planned it to be.
