Has Daniel been banned or something? I haven't seen any responses in support of Obama, even though Renda did rise to the challenge and list her reasons for supporting McCain.

I agree that that was an "open mouth insert foot" moment. It does stand out to me that "well-spoken" or "articulate" is the first description that comes to mind when talking about a well-educated Black person. Chris Rock had some pretty funny material about Colin Powell in that regards.
But as a community, I do believe that we do have to take some of the onus because a well spoken adult should not be an exception. I'm not saying that it is because there are many very articulate sharp men and women in the Black community. You could just look around the religious community for evidence of that, but we still do not place the premium on this that many other communities do and it shows. A lot of white people and others do not have a lot of deep interaction with a lot of blacks and when a lot of your perception is determined by what is in the public eye...and what is in the public eye is atheletes and entertainers...you do have the recipe for some bad perception.

my only point is that Biden gets the Byrd exception. Had any republican said that, he would no longer be in the senate. period.

Ferd, I know what you are saying but I do think that you are overstating it here. I don't think a Republican would have lost his seat over calling someone clean and articulate.
