2... Obama's comment was either a) a double entendre that backfired on him or b) since there are many Democrats and Republicans who felt he was making a backhanded slap at Palin... if it was an "innocent" comment it was poorly thought out and probably showed bad judgement on his part.

3... Just wondering... Have you noticed that Liberals like to use the term "right wingers" to refer to Conservatives, but dont use the term "left wingers" to refer to other Liberals ? Why do you think that is?

I bet you that McCain's people go to great effort to avoid words like "Black" "Dark" or anything else that could be distorted to represent a racist jab.

It's so childish.
Ding, Ding, Ding. We have a winner.

6% unemployment, gas prices soaring, 1.5 million American's facing foreclosure, today the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said he's "not convinced we're winning" in Afghanistan, and a lot of other actual important topics to be discussed and lipstick on pigs is important?

I'm pretty sure the Amercian people couldn't care less.

Re: Obama: 'Lipstick on a pig' comment. Not Smart.

I guess I'm just missing the point here. How many comments were made in the Republican speeches that were direct jabs at Obama, things he had said earlier, and plays on the wording of his messages. I just don't see the big deal. He obviously used a common phrase that did harken back to a phrase that Palin used, but both sides do it all the time.

tstew, I believe the difference is if we could call Palin she would own up to what all she said about Obama in her speech.

The things they say, later they deny that they are slamming.

Just call it what it is and stop trying to act all innocent.

Exactly.

I mean Sarah Palin dissed every community organizer in America as not having "repsonsiblities" and we're supposed to stop the campaign so Obama can extend his deepest sympathies to her over lipstick on a pig? That's a hoot.

You're really going overboard with this "balance" thing.

Seeking "balance" for the sake of always wanting to "balance things out" is not always appropriate.

There are significant contextual and situational differences between what McCain said when he said it, and what Obama said when he did.

This particular comment by Obama was on the heels of her comments and the timing was all wrong. They are not that stupid to miss that it would cause a fire storm. Well, maybe they are.

I'm reading about his recent ties with a guy that is a radical muslim who Obama did some Op-ed's with while the guy was running for office in Kenya. The guy is standing off to the side while Obama and Michelle are doing their supposed thing on Aids. It is very apparent that Obama is endorsing this guy's agenda in Kenya being that they are from the same tribe. Obama's father was from this tribe.

All of these things just don't bode well with me.

And Sarah would say that's exactly what she meant.

Obama though says it as a slam and then says, no that's not what I meant at all.

Just own up to it and make it even.
