Why does your State have the highest rate of incarceration then, if y'all are the law and order types? You'd think all them people having guns and the right to shoot anyone they see stealing something would make it a right peaceful place to live.
You would think, but most folks today don't want to get involved or they are out working!

Rico, there are certain types of crimes that happen in certain places at a very high rate. In Houston, if you go out to the little ghetto clubs and get involved in the crazy underground drug world fueled by our size, proximity to Mexico, wide open spaces, illegal alien trade and traffic, etc....you run a high risk of being victimized. However, I believe that regular, working, middle class neighborhoods do sleep pretty peacibly knowing that evrybody knows that there is a 2 to one chance that any given house on the street is packing heat.

I agree. What I have an issue with is being able to shoot someone on behalf of your neighbors. Doesn't sound right to me.

Neither am I, but I certainly wouldn't go blasting away at someone breaking into my neighbor's house. Y'all seem to be ok with that though, so I guess to each his own.

Years ago, I was alone here as my kids were in school and my closest neighbors at work. Two guys were trying to break into their back window. I saw them, called the Sheriff's Dept., got my shotgun and hollered at them and told them to leave. If I hadn't had that 20 gauge in my hands they probably wouldn't have listened to me. And they were caught. They were breaking into houses in rural areas stealing guns.
