I haven't seen one of these in years.

There was one of these right behind our old house in OKC... They had the cheapest gas in town too!

How funny. I have never paid attention to how much gas prices are. I can't even tell you how much it is around here. I'm sure somewhere close to $4. It takes around $75 to fill up. That's all I know and I get a free car wash!

I do remember going to the filling station and charging the gas to my dad's account. Don't remember how much it was back then.

Re: What is the Cheapest Fuel You've Ever Bought?

I am thinking when I started driving it was like .80 but I do not really remember. I was blessed somewhat like Renda but not as much LOL... My uncle owned 2 gas stations.. so if I was in the right part of town when I needed gas I could run over there and get it for free being I was his only niece and he had no kids he was always very giving with me which was a good thing because as much as I drove poor daddys gas card had to be a horrible sight!!!!

I remember mowing yards and filling up my gas can for about 25 cents. I charged $2 per yard!

I also remember my father gawking when he bought a Cadillac and it cost him over $10 to fill it up with premium gas!

I can remember buying gas for 69 cents a gallon back in the eighties.

I can remember gas wars and the price as low as $0.18, but regularly $0.22.
And I am only 57 years old. lol

We USED to have a Sinclair Station here in Madisonville. When it closed my son's kindergarten teacher bought the dinosaur and used it on her playground (private kindergarten).

My mom's CHINA came from Sinclair, I think. It's mine now and actually worth some money, I think. Can we say.....E-Bay? LOL

We usually bought gas at Ashland when I was a kid. We got a free glass with every fill up. Our kitchen was full of Ashland glasses! I had totally forgotten about that. LOL!

I do remember when every gas station was full service.
I remember gas being .20-.25 a gallon when I first started driving. I remember being able to clean out the change in the bottom of my purse and fill my gas tank up full with that money.

When I was first married all the gas stations were full service, PP. I used to take my daycare kids and go do my errands. Often we'd stop at the local 76 station for gas. Rex would come out and I would roll my window down and say, "Hi! Fill it!"

One day we were out and about and one of my little girls who was three started bugging me, saying, "I want to go see Fillit" I'm like - "WHO??" Well, I finally figured out she wanted to go see Rex at the gas station.

In the early 70's when the first self-service station came to town the price dropped to 13¢ a gallon.

When I went to college in Missouri I remember gas being 0.85/gallon. I could fill up for under $15.
